Jonathan Cahn: How These Events in Israel CONFIRM God’s Plan and Point to End Times
How These Events in Israel CONFIRM God’s Plan and Point to End Times
God declared that in the end times, He would bring His people back to their land—and this return is the prophetic key to understanding the end-time events. What many don’t realize, however, is that everything now unfolding was set into motion approximately 150 years ago. This isn’t just an isolated event—it’s part of one of the most far-reaching mysteries I’ve ever encountered. It spans the past, explains the present, and unveils what’s still to come. It is, in essence, the master blueprint of the end times.
This divine pattern reveals events down to specific years—and in some cases, to exact days. Let me share a glimpse of two of the prophetic streams tied to this mystery:
The Jubilee Mystery: A Prophetic Timeline of Restoration
The mystery begins with the ancient biblical concept of the Jubilee—a cycle of 50 years in which land is returned and captives are set free. According to Scripture, during the Jubilee, what was lost is restored. For 2,000 years, the Jewish people were scattered from their land, but God promised they would return in the last days. And they did.
This mystery of Jubilee reveals prophetic precision—events tied to exact years, and in some cases, exact dates. Israel’s restoration, following the pattern of Jubilee years, began in 1867. That year marked the start of a divine countdown toward restoration.
The Stranger’s Visit: Mark Twain and Prophetic Fulfillment
Incredibly, the prophecy foretold by Moses includes a specific sign before the return of the Jewish people—a stranger from a distant land would come to Israel, witness its desolation, and testify of it. That stranger was none other than Mark Twain, whose real name was Samuel Clemens. In 1867, Twain visited the Holy Land and wrote of its hopeless state, using nearly the exact words prophesied in Deuteronomy.
On the final night of his journey, while walking the streets of Jerusalem, Jewish congregations around the world were reading the ancient Torah portion that prophesied about “the stranger in the land.” Twain, unknowingly, fulfilled that prophecy—his very name translating to “The Lord has heard” (Samuel) and “has shown mercy” (Clemens)—matching the centuries-old prayer of the Jewish people: “Lord, hear us and be merciful. Bring us home.”
50 Years Later: The 1917 Jubilee and the Liberation of Jerusalem
Following the 50-year Jubilee cycle from 1867 brings us to 1917—another pivotal year in prophecy. The Ottoman Empire, which had ruled the land for 400 years, began to collapse. Meanwhile, Britain, under the leadership of Bible-believing men like Arthur Balfour and David Lloyd George, took up the mantle of prophecy.
