Today, we have an incredibly special guest—someone whose insights you won’t want to miss. And yes, I know I say that often, but trust me, this episode is particularly exceptional.
Joining us is Pastor Dr. Erwin Lutzer, a prolific author and a highly respected voice in the church. His books fly off the shelves, and rightfully so—they’re packed with truth and powerful insights. Today, it’s our privilege to have Dr. Lutzer with us. For anyone interested in deep, biblically sound teaching, his work has had an undeniable impact, including on my own journey. Dr. Lutzer, welcome to the podcast.
Dr. Lutzer: Thank you, Jack, for that warm introduction. My wife Rebecca and I have been married for 55 years—she likes to say the first 50 were the hardest, but by God’s grace, we’ve been blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. I was actually born on a farm in Saskatchewan, Canada, in a tiny town of just 75 people, and I share that to give glory to God. He has guided me from those humble beginnings to serve as pastor of Moody Church in Chicago for 36 years, write numerous books, and share the message of Christ. If anyone is blessed by what I share, I always direct the praise to God, who has given me every opportunity.
Jack Hibbs: It’s amazing to see how God’s hand has guided your life, Dr. Lutzer. I truly appreciate your commitment to teaching biblically sound theology in a time when that’s needed more than ever. Thank you for being with us, and I can’t wait for our listeners to hear what’s on your heart today.
In just a few weeks, you’ll be joining us at our church for a special message right after the election. Can you share a little bit about the topic?
Dr. Lutzer: Certainly. I’ll be speaking on “The Laughter of God,” inspired by Psalm 2, which shows us that in the face of human rebellion, God remains sovereign. This truth—that God’s sovereignty is our sanity—gives us great comfort, no matter what circumstances or leadership changes we may face.
Thank you, Dr. Lutzer, for your insight. Friends, be sure to mark your calendars for that upcoming service. Until then, stay tuned for more powerful messages, and as always, thanks for listening to the Jack Hibbs Real Life Podcast.
