Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back | Jentezen Franklin
A lazy person says, “There’s a lion in the street, so I can’t work. I can’t chase my dreams. I can’t go to college. I can’t do what I once thought I could with my life.” He creates an imaginary problem to justify staying in a place of defeat. Instead of taking action, he makes excuses for not becoming who he is meant to be or accomplishing what he is called to do.
He convinces himself, “Everyone else has it easier. My situation is different.” But the truth is—there is no lion in the street. The danger exists only in his mind. The enemy has filled his thoughts with doubt, whispering, “What’s the use? You can’t do it.” He accepts these lies and lets fear hold him back.
But today, it’s time to be set free. In this new season, you must break free from fear, doubt, and destructive thoughts that limit your potential. These false imaginations will steal your purpose, block your progress, and keep you from walking in God’s will.
Instead, declare what the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Enough with the excuses. Stop justifying failure. If you truly want to be free, you can be free. If you desire change, you can change. If you want joy, you can have joy.
That lion in the street—the one convincing you that you cannot move forward—is a lie. But today, we are slaying that lion with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Before this moment is over, spiritual strongholds will be broken in your life, your family, your marriage, and your dreams. God is slaying the lion that has kept you bound. Clap your hands and believe for something great—Amen!
Now, listen carefully—because the Lord put this message on my heart for someone who has already said:
“I can’t live for God. I’ve tried, but I can’t change. I’ve gone too far. I’ve messed up too much. I can’t quit my bad habits. I can’t escape my past. I can’t break free.”
You’ve been saying, “There’s a lion in the street.” But the Word of God speaks truth over your situation!
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says:
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for pulling down strongholds. We cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.”
The real battle isn’t just external—it’s in your mind. Imaginations come from the word “image.” The enemy feeds you thoughts that create a negative image of yourself—one of failure, addiction, and defeat. He wants you to believe you can’t stop, you can’t change, and you can’t be free.
But today, you must cast down those imaginations. You are not bound by sin. You can live in victory. You can break free. Do not let the enemy convince you otherwise!
Ask yourself: Are you truly happy living in defeat? Has believing the enemy’s lies brought you peace? Only Jesus can satisfy your soul.
If you believe that, shout it out! Declare that fear, doubt, and strongholds have no place in your life anymore. The battle for your mind is real—but victory is yours in Jesus’ name!
