Dr. Charles Stanley Daily Devotional – October 23, 2026: Trusting God in the Middle of the Unknown

If you could sit across the table from Dr. Charles Stanley today, he would likely remind you of a simple but life-changing truth: “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.” Maybe this morning you’re waking up with worries about your family, your health, your job, or your future. Perhaps you feel a little worn out from trying to hold everything together. Today’s devotional is an invitation to exhale, to unclench your heart, and to trust that the God who sees you also goes before you. You are not alone in this moment, and you are not expected to carry the weight of your world by yourself. The Lord who guided His people through deserts and storms has not changed—and He has not forgotten you.

Anchored by God’s Unfailing Promise

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6 NASB)

These verses echo the heart of what Dr. Stanley preached for decades: God can be trusted, even when you cannot trace what He is doing. Trust here is not a vague, hopeful feeling; it is a deliberate choice to lean the full weight of your life on God’s character rather than your limited understanding. When we acknowledge Him—inviting Him into our decisions, surrendering our plans, and listening for His voice—He promises to direct our paths. That doesn’t always mean an easy road, but it does mean a sure one, laid out by a wise, loving Father who sees the end from the beginning.

Walking by Faith in Everyday Moments

Trusting God is not just for crisis seasons; it’s for ordinary Tuesdays and quiet Saturdays, for commutes, grocery runs, and late-night worries. Today, you can choose to respond differently. Instead of rehearsing your fears, you can whisper, “Lord, I trust You with this.” Instead of trying to control every outcome, you can ask, “Father, what would please You in this situation?” As you do, your heart learns to rest. Try pausing before each major decision today—big or small. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, wait a moment in silence, and then move forward in faith. Over time, consistent, simple acts of trust shape a life that reflects Christ and experiences His peace.

Drawing Near in Faith and Growth

Father, today I come before You with a heart that longs to trust You more. I admit that I often rely on my own understanding, my own plans, and my own strength. Forgive me for the times I have allowed worry to be louder than Your Word. I ask You to deepen my faith. Teach me to listen when You speak, to move when You lead, and to wait when You say, “Be still.” Grow in me a steady confidence that You are good, even when life doesn’t make sense. Let my relationship with You mature beyond feelings and circumstances, rooted firmly in Your promises. Draw me into a lifestyle of obedience, not out of fear, but out of love and gratitude for all You have done through Jesus Christ.

Covering Our Homes in God’s Peace

Lord, I lift my family and loved ones before You. You see every marriage, every child, every parent, every broken relationship, and every unspoken concern. Bring Your peace into our homes, calming tension and healing old wounds. Where there is distance, create reconnection. Where there is misunderstanding, release humility and grace. Protect our children and grandchildren from harmful influences and surround them with people who will point them to You. Help us love one another with patience, kindness, and forgiveness. May our homes in the United States shine as small reflections of Your kingdom—a place where You are honored, Your Word is respected, and Your presence is welcome.

The Lord Who Heals and Sustains

Gracious Healer, I place my health and the health of those I love in Your hands. You know every diagnosis, every ache, every sleepless night, and every hidden anxiety. I ask for physical healing where it is needed, emotional restoration where hearts are weary, and mental peace where minds feel overwhelmed. Strengthen immune systems, stabilize blood pressure, calm anxious thoughts, and restore energy to tired bodies. Give wisdom to doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Teach me to honor You by caring for my body, getting proper rest, and guarding my heart from constant stress.
