Angels Assist Your Destiny | Tim Sheets
For the past several weeks, I have been speaking with you about the life-changing benefits of being filled and continually refilled with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself commanded believers to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to pursue His presence, walk with Him daily, and allow Him to become our Teacher, Guide, and Mentor. If you missed any of those messages, they are available online for you to hear at no cost.
We have already seen that the Holy Spirit helps us understand our destiny and purpose. As we begin today, remember the meaning of the word purpose. The Greek word is prothesis. Pro means before, beforehand, or set in advance. Thesis refers to a written composition, report, or document. This reveals a powerful truth: before your life ever began, the Godhead established your purpose.
Before you lived one single day, God wrote intentions for your life. He recorded divine possibilities, callings, and assignments for you. Psalm 139:16 reveals that your days were written in His book before they came to pass. God not only planned purpose for you, but He also placed within you the gifts, abilities, and capacity needed to fulfill it.
These God-given possibilities are available to you, but you must choose whether or not to pursue them. If you follow the Holy Spirit and obey the Word of God, you can step into the purpose Heaven prepared for you. Every person born into this world carries divine purpose.
Last week, we specifically explored how the Holy Spirit teaches believers their identity as heirs of God. Through salvation, we become full legal heirs of the Father and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of adoption. He reveals what it means to belong to God’s family and helps us understand the inheritance available to us as sons and daughters of the Kingdom.
Today, we will go even deeper into how the destiny and purpose God established before your birth are brought forth in your life.
Quick Review: What the Holy Spirit Does for Believers
Here are several key truths we have covered in recent weeks:
- The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of adoption who ministers sonship to God’s heirs.
- He is the Spirit of truth and never speaks deception.
- He is the Spirit of acceptance who brings peace and assurance.
- He is our supernatural prayer partner.
- He intercedes in perfect harmony with God’s will and destiny for our lives (Romans 8:27).
- He is our Helper, Comforter, and Empowerer.
- He confirms to our spirits that we are children and heirs of God.
- He helps bring our destiny to birth.
The Holy Spirit and the Ministry of Angels
Today I want to continue with another extraordinary benefit of living in relationship with the Holy Spirit. This truth has helped me deeply through the years.
The Holy Spirit is also Lord of Heaven’s Hosts, the Commander of angel armies. Of course, the Father and Jesus also command angels, but in this present age the Holy Spirit is the active administrator of Heaven’s resources on the earth. He represents the Godhead in this generation and oversees the ministry of angels.
He is the wisest being on the earth. He is the most powerful presence on the earth. He empowers Christ’s Church across the nations, leads the heirs of God, and directs billions of supernatural beings called angels.
In this prophetic hour, the Holy Spirit is connecting God’s people to greater measures of destiny and purpose. He is leading heirs into assignments He helped design before they were born. And often, He does this through angelic assistance.
This is part of God’s plan for the great harvest of souls. Your God-given purpose, destiny, and potential include receiving angelic help under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
There are aspects of your calling that require Heaven’s assistance.
Angels Are Sent to Serve the Heirs of Salvation
Hebrews 1:14 says:
“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”
This verse clearly teaches that angels are sent to minister to God’s heirs. They are servants of the Kingdom assigned to help believers fulfill divine purpose.
The Passion Translation says:
“What role then do the angels have? The angels are spirit messengers sent by God to serve those who are going to be saved.”
Angels are real beings with real assignments. They are active participants in God’s plans.
Angels Assigned to Your Life
Jesus gave further insight in Matthew 18:10 when speaking about children:
“Their angels always see the face of My Father in heaven.”
Notice He said their angels plural. This strongly suggests that at least two angels are assigned to each person. If so, that means billions of angels are actively ministering on the earth right now.
These angels have direct access to the Father and are aware of His will concerning your life.
There is no scripture indicating that believers lose these angels as they grow older. Their ministry may be hindered by unbelief, rebellion, sinful living, negative speech, or covenant-breaking, but the Bible consistently teaches angelic ministry to God’s people.
Angels Know Your Destiny
If angels are assigned to help you, then they must know the purpose of your life. They cannot properly assist you without understanding your divine assignment.
They know the areas of destiny written in Heaven’s book concerning you. They work to connect you with God-ordained people, places, opportunities, and moments.
This reveals how deeply valued you are by God. He not only gave you purpose, He also assigned help to ensure you could walk in it.
Biblical Examples of Angels Assisting Destiny
Mary
In Luke 1, the angel Gabriel came to Mary and declared that she had been chosen to give birth to Jesus the Messiah. Gabriel knew her destiny before she fully understood it herself.
Zechariah and Elizabeth
Also in Luke 1, Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and announced that Elizabeth would bear a son named John. The angel knew John’s name, calling, and future ministry before he was even conceived.
John the Baptist was destined to prepare the way for Christ, and Heaven was already working toward that purpose.
Paul
In Acts 27, during a violent storm at sea, an angel stood beside Paul and said:
“Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar.”
The angel knew Paul’s journey to Rome was necessary. It was part of Heaven’s plan. Though the ship was destroyed, Paul and everyone aboard survived because destiny had to be fulfilled.
Gideon
In Judges 6, Gideon was hiding in fear when an angel appeared and called him a mighty man of valor.
The angel did not speak to Gideon’s weakness. He spoke to Gideon’s potential.
That is powerful. Heaven often addresses who you can become, not merely who you are today.
With God’s Spirit upon him, Gideon led 300 men to victory over a massive enemy army.
Angels Help Draw Out Hidden Potential
There may be gifts, abilities, and strengths inside you that you have never discovered. But God knows they are there. The Holy Spirit and the angels assigned to your life can help awaken and develop that potential.
They can guide you into the right relationships, the right environments, and the right opportunities to bring forth what God placed within you.
If you are alive, you still have purpose.
No one has fully maxed out their destiny while they are still breathing. If you are here today, there is more in you than you realize.
You Can Hinder or Release Their Ministry
Scripture teaches that angels respond to the Word of God. Psalm 103:20 says they heed the voice of His Word.
That means your declarations matter.
You can hinder Heaven’s activity through unbelief, fear, rebellion, and negative speech. Or you can cooperate with God’s plan by speaking His promises over your life.
Declare:
- I am saved.
- I am a child of God.
- I am an heir of His Kingdom.
- I have purpose.
- My future is blessed.
- God is leading me into destiny.
When you agree with Heaven, you position yourself for divine assistance.
Jacob Wrestled Into Destiny
In Genesis 32, Jacob wrestled with an angel through the night. Jacob had lived as a deceiver, manipulator, and fugitive. But Heaven knew something greater was written about him.
During that encounter, the angel asked, “What is your name?”
Jacob answered honestly. Then the angel changed his name to Israel, meaning prince with God.
Jacob’s identity was transformed, and his destiny began to emerge.
Sometimes Heaven wrestles us out of our old identity so we can step into who we were always meant to be.
Final Encouragement
The Holy Spirit is still guiding people into purpose today. He is still opening doors, arranging divine appointments, protecting destinies, and awakening hidden potential.
You are not alone in your journey.
God planned your life before you were born. He placed gifts inside you. He gave you His Spirit to lead you. And He assigned heavenly help to assist you.
Walk with the Holy Spirit. Pray about your future. Stay filled with His presence. Trust His guidance.
There is more purpose in you than you know, more destiny ahead than you can see, and more help available than you have imagined.
