A Nation at the Crossroads: What America’s Shaking Means for Believers
In the aftermath of recent elections across America, many believers are asking a difficult but necessary question: What is really happening to our nation? And as Christians, we cannot ignore the answer, because the direction of this country will directly shape our lives, our families, and our faith communities.
For years, many have insisted, “Christians shouldn’t get involved in politics.” But the truth is, the times we are living in will pull every believer into the public square—whether we want it or not.
Think back to September 11, 2001. The United States was struck by Islamic jihadists who targeted the centers of global commerce, military power, and attempted to strike the very heart of our republic. In the days that followed, we prayed, we gathered, and we vowed to “never forget.”
But we have forgotten. In fact, we have chosen to forget.
Today, New York City is led by a mayor whose worldview and ideology stand in stark contrast to America’s moral and spiritual foundations. He is not only a far-left socialist; he openly identifies as a Muslim and has expressed sympathy toward jihad—something unimaginable in the years after 9/11. Yet here we are.
Is this a coincidence? Scripture tells us that in Hebrew, there is no word for coincidence. What we are witnessing may be the unfolding of God’s hand upon a nation that has steadily rejected Him. We have pushed God out of our culture, our schools, our courts, and even many of our churches.
Meanwhile, abortions continue at staggering rates—many now through the “day‑after pill,” expanded across the nation in recent years. This sin alone cries out for repentance before the God of Heaven.
America desperately needs to repent. But will she?
God is calling His people—the remnant, the church—to turn back. When the people of God repent, nations can be healed. But we must face an honest question:
Have we run out the clock?
Have we crossed a line we can’t undo?
Consider Nineveh, which received mercy—but only for a time. Consider Noah’s generation, where God Himself closed the door of the ark before judgment fell. God’s patience is long, but not endless.
Could America already be in the early stages of divine judgment? Many signs point in that direction. The same forces that attacked us in 2001 are growing in influence. Islam is rising in visibility and power across the country, while many Christians continue to retreat, stay silent, or avoid engaging with the world around them.
For decades, the American church has sown apathy—and now we may be reaping the harvest of that negligence.
I pray that I’m wrong. Yet I fear that what we are seeing is exactly what Scripture warned us about. Still, there is hope.
God promises that His people are not of this world. Our true citizenship is in heaven. Our ultimate allegiance is to Christ. And even in the shaking of nations, those who belong to Him will be sustained.
So keep your eyes on Jesus. Strengthen your homes. Lead your families in faith. And be ready—because the days ahead will call every believer to stand firm.
