Today, the core cultural battle is not just between political parties, red states and blue states, or even between religious and non-religious individuals. The deeper divide is between those who recognize that objective truth exists and can be discovered versus those who believe that truth is subjective and determined by personal preferences.

Dr. Jeff Meyers, President of Summit Ministries, joins us to discuss this issue. Summit Ministries is a leading organization dedicated to equipping young people with a solid Biblical worldview. As a parent, I can personally vouch for their impact—my daughter attended Summit, and it profoundly shaped her faith and understanding.

“Kirk, it’s great to be with you,” said Dr. Meyers. “At Summit, we address a critical issue: 75% of young adults today report struggling to find purpose in life, while 54% regularly battle anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. Despite these struggles, many are unaware that the Bible offers meaningful answers. In fact, only 2% of American young adults currently hold a Biblical worldview.”

Summit Ministries brings young adults together for intensive two-week sessions led by some of the most respected Christian thought leaders, many of whom have appeared on this very show. Through lectures and meaningful dialogues, these students tackle tough questions about their faith, identity, and purpose.

“This summer, veteran social researcher George Barna conducted a study on our students,” Dr. Meyers continued. “He found a remarkable transformation: where only 2% of their peers in broader society hold a Biblical worldview, 86% of Summit attendees adopt a Biblical worldview by the end of the program. They learn how to interpret Scripture, defend their beliefs, and live out their faith in practical, impactful ways.”

This dramatic shift raises an important question: What is a worldview, and why does it matter?

“Everyone has a worldview,” explained Dr. Meyers. “It’s like wearing a pair of glasses—it shapes how you see and interpret everything around you. Your worldview answers life’s big questions: Is there a God? Am I loved? Does my life have purpose? Why do conflicts exist? Where can I find hope? The way you answer these questions depends on the assumptions you’ve formed over time.”

He emphasized that one’s belief about God profoundly influences their worldview. “If you believe in God, you’re going to arrive at very different conclusions about life’s purpose, morality, and reality than someone who believes there is no God. Biblical Christianity provides the most reasonable, coherent answers to life’s toughest questions. In contrast, other worldviews may sound appealing but often lead people astray.”

Dr. Meyers also addressed a common misconception: the idea that not believing in God simply means not attending church or reading the Bible. In reality, this absence of belief forms a distinct worldview with significant implications.

“Think about it,” he said. “What you believe about God shapes what you believe about reality. Is the world a deliberate creation, or is it a social construct? Your understanding of reality affects your sense of right and wrong, your value of human life, and how you think society should function. It influences the laws we create, the way we govern, and how we conduct economic transactions. It even impacts whether we learn from history or ignore its lessons.”

So, where do people typically develop their worldviews?

“Parents, education, media, and culture all play a role,” Dr. Meyers noted. “But at Summit Ministries, we aim to help young people critically examine their assumptions, explore the truth of the Bible, and equip them to become leaders who influence culture with faith, wisdom, and integrity.”

The work being done at Summit Ministries highlights the urgency of shaping a Biblical worldview in today’s world. With so many young people seeking purpose and meaning, the message of hope found in Scripture is more relevant than ever. Programs like Summit offer a transformative experience, empowering the next generation to navigate life with clarity, conviction, and faith-based confidence.
