Sarah Jakes Roberts Daily Devotional – October 17, 2026
If this page found you in the middle of questions, pressure, or quiet exhaustion, you are seen. God knew you would land here today, and He has something to say to your heart. You may feel like you are balancing a thousand invisible weights—responsibility, regret, fear of the future—but heaven is leaning in over your life. The same God who met broken women at wells, anxious disciples in storms, and grieving sisters at a tomb is meeting you right here, right now. Today, be reminded: you are not too far, too late, or too damaged for God to do something beautiful with your story. As you read this devotion inspired by the bold, transparent faith of voices like Sarah Jakes Roberts, allow God to whisper, “Daughter, son, I’m still writing your next chapter.”
Scripture for This Season
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14, NIV). Israel stood trapped—Red Sea in front of them, Pharaoh’s army behind them. Panic made sense. But God told them to be still, not because nothing was happening, but because HE was moving. That same God hasn’t changed. When you cannot fix it, figure it out, or force it to work, the Lord is not asking you to pretend you’re strong; He’s inviting you to rest in His strength. Being still is not being passive—it is choosing to trust that God fights battles you cannot see, in places you cannot reach, with power you cannot imagine.
When Your Faith Feels Thin
Some days faith feels like a shout; other days it feels like a whisper barely making it past your lips. You might look at people who seem confident and on fire for God and wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” Nothing is wrong with you. The Lord isn’t intimidated by your questions or your quiet. He values your honest, trembling “yes” far more than a fake, polished performance. Today, practice small, simple faith: talk to God in the car, breathe His name when anxiety rises, open your Bible for five minutes, write one promise on a sticky note where you’ll see it. Growth with God is rarely loud; it’s a steady unfolding, like dawn slowly chasing away the night. Keep showing up. Keep leaning in. Your mustard seed faith is enough for God to work miracles in hidden places.
Prayer for Deepening Faith and Spiritual Growth
Lord, I bring You my faith as it is today—shaky in some places, strong in others, but real. Teach me to trust You when I can’t trace You. Pull up the roots of fear, doubt, and shame that have wrapped themselves around my heart, and plant fresh courage in their place. Help me hunger for Your presence more than I crave approval, control, or comfort. When I open Your Word, cause it to come alive. When I worship, tune my ears to hear Your voice. Grow me beyond spiritual routines into real relationship. Break every lie that says I am unworthy, unseen, or unloved. I surrender my plans, timelines, and expectations. Shape my desires so they agree with Your will for my life. Make my spirit sensitive to Your leading, obedient to Your whispers, and bold to step when You say, “Move.” In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Family, Love, and Home
Father, I place my family and relationships into Your hands. Where there is tension, bring peace. Where there is distance, build bridges. Heal unspoken hurts that hang in the air like thick fog. Guard my home from division, resentment, and unforgiveness. Teach us how to listen with grace and speak with kindness. For my children, spouse, parents, and loved ones, I ask for divine protection, emotional healing, and fresh joy. Let our home be more than a place we live—make it a sanctuary where Your presence rests, where laughter returns, and where wounds begin to mend. Give me wisdom to love well, to apologize quickly, to forgive fully, and to lead my family toward You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Health, Strength, and Healing
God, You see every ache in my body and every unspoken pain in my heart. I bring my physical health, my mental battles, and my emotional wounds to You. Touch the places doctors can see and the places no one else knows about. Restore what sickness, stress, and sleepless nights have worn down. Strengthen my
