Paul Washer Daily Devotional – October 16, 2026

Some mornings you wake up with a weight on your chest that you can’t quite name. You love the Lord, you believe His Word, but your heart feels tired from the battle. If that’s you today, you are not alone. God sees you right where you are—in your kitchen, your car, your office, or sitting quietly before everyone else wakes up. The God who saved you by grace is the same God who will carry you by grace. As many times as Paul Washer has reminded believers, true Christianity is not about how strong we are, but how strong Christ is for us. Today, on October 16, 2026, let this devotional draw your eyes away from your weakness and fasten them again on the power, love, and faithfulness of God.

Anchored by the Word This Morning

“He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24, ESV) This short verse is a lifeline. Your hope today is not in your ability to perform for God, but in God’s unshakable commitment to complete what He started in you. When Paul Washer preaches, he often emphasizes that salvation is of the Lord—from beginning to end. That means your spiritual growth, your endurance, your sanctification are not hanging by a thread called “your willpower.” They are held by the mighty hand of a faithful God. The One who called you out of darkness will not abandon you halfway through the journey. He will surely do it—finish the work, sustain your faith, and keep you to the end.

Walking with Christ in the Ordinary Moments

Most of life is not lived on mountaintops or in church services; it’s lived in traffic, meetings, laundry rooms, and late-night worries. The call to follow Jesus is not just for Sundays or emotionally charged moments. It’s for the ordinary Tuesday at your desk and the weary Friday drive home. Let this truth settle in: God is present in the “small” moments, shaping you, correcting you, and comforting you. Today, choose one thing to surrender—your frustration, your fear about the future, or that lingering resentment. Invite the Holy Spirit to use every conversation, every decision, and even every interruption as a chisel to make you more like Christ. Spiritual growth is rarely loud; it is usually quiet, steady, and often unnoticed until you look back and see how far God has brought you.

Seeking Deeper Faith and Steadfast Trust

Lord, I confess that my faith feels fragile at times. I believe, yet I stumble; I trust, yet I worry. Today I ask You to deepen my faith, not in myself, but in You alone. Guard me from empty religion and surface-level Christianity. Let my heart be gripped by Your holiness, Your love, and Your truth. Teach me to run to Your Word before I run to social media, to prayer before I reach for distraction. Shape my desires so that knowing You becomes more important than being comfortable. Strengthen my trust when I do not understand Your timing. Help me believe, hour by hour, that You are wiser than my plans and kinder than my fears. Grow in me a faith that clings to Christ in both storms and sunshine.

Covering Our Homes with Prayer

Father, I lift my family and loved ones before You. You see every tension, every unspoken hurt, every fear beneath the surface. Bring Your peace into our home. Where there has been sharpness, give gentleness. Where there has been distance, restore closeness. Protect our marriages from the subtle drift that comes with busyness. Guard our children and grandchildren from lies that promise freedom but deliver chains. Give us courage to lead our homes in Your Word and in prayer, even if we feel unqualified. Let forgiveness flow more quickly than anger. May our homes become small altars of worship where Your presence is welcome, Your name is honored, and Your love is reflected in how we speak to one another.

Strength for Body, Mind, and Spirit

Lord Jesus, You know the aches, diagnoses, and private struggles we carry. For those battling chronic pain, grant relief and endurance. For those facing scary test results, surround them with Your calm. Heal where You choose to heal miraculously and sustain where You choose to display Your power through weakness. For the one weighed down by anxiety, depression, or emotional exhaustion, speak “Peace, be still” over their racing thoughts. Help us to honor You with
