Dr. Bill Winston Daily Devotional – October 19, 2026

As you step into this new day, God has already gone ahead of you. He knows the pressures you’re under, the quiet battles you’ve been fighting, and the questions you’re afraid to even say out loud. You may feel stretched, tired, or even a little discouraged, but your Father has not forgotten you. Right now, where you are, He is inviting you to lift your eyes off the problem and onto His promises. Today’s devotional is a reminder that you are not stuck, you are not alone, and your story is not over. The same God who brought you this far will not leave you in the middle. He intends to finish what He started in you, and He will do it by His power, not yours.

Standing on Unshakable Promises

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV)

Paul wrote these words from prison, not from a comfortable place. Yet he spoke with unshakable confidence: God finishes what He starts. This verse is more than a nice phrase; it is a covenant promise. The “good work” includes your salvation, your growth, your assignment, and the unique calling on your life. Even when your progress feels slow, God is still working under the surface. What looks delayed is not denied. Your job is not to figure out how He’ll do it, but to stay in faith, keep your heart soft, and agree with His Word rather than your feelings or circumstances.

Faith in the Middle of the Process

We love sudden breakthroughs, but most of our walk with God happens in the middle—in between the promise and the manifestation. That’s where faith is forged. Maybe you’ve prayed for change in your career, your finances, or your family, and it seems like nothing is shifting. Remember, God is not only working on the outcome; He is shaping you. He’s building spiritual muscles: persistence, patience, and trust.

Today, practice small, deliberate steps of faith. Speak God’s Word over your situation instead of rehearsing fear. Make one decision that lines up with His promises—a phone call you’ve delayed, an apology you’ve avoided, an act of generosity that feels risky. The Holy Spirit within you is not fragile or weak; He is your advantage. As you lean into Him, He’ll give you fresh courage and clarity for the day ahead.

Drawing Closer to God in Faith

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for drawing me closer to Your heart today. I choose to place my faith, not in what I see, but in who You are. You are faithful, You are good, and You are for me. Remove every lie that tells me I’m not enough, that I’m disqualified, or that I have missed my chance. Holy Spirit, stir up fresh hunger in me for Your Word and Your presence. Teach me to hear Your voice more clearly and to obey You more quickly. Strengthen my spirit so I don’t quit in the middle of the process. Let my trust in You grow deeper than my fears, and let my life reflect the character of Jesus in how I think, speak, and respond today.

Covering Our Homes in God’s Peace

Lord, I lift up my family and every relationship connected to me. Where there has been tension, bring peace. Where there has been misunderstanding, bring clarity and compassion. Heal old wounds, soften hardened hearts, and restore what the enemy tried to divide. Let our homes be places of prayer, laughter, and safety. Give parents wisdom to lead with love and patience. Guard our children and grandchildren from confusion and deception; surround them with godly influences and kingdom purpose. Let forgiveness flow freely in our homes, breaking cycles of anger, resentment, and criticism. Fill our conversations with grace, and let Your presence settle over our households like a warm blanket of peace.

Health, Strength, and Emotional Healing

Heavenly Father, I bring my body, mind, and emotions before You. You are Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. Where there is sickness, pain, or weakness, release Your healing power. Touch every cell, every organ, every system, and bring it into divine alignment with Your Word. For every anxious thought, racing mind, or heavy heart, pour out Your peace that passes understanding. Heal trauma, disappointment, and weariness
