Pastor Rick Warren Daily Devotional – October 14, 2026
If your heart feels a little weary today, you are not alone. All across the United States, believers are waking up with questions about their families, their health, their money, and the future of this nation. Yet in the middle of all this noise, God is leaning close, whispering, “Trust Me. I am still in control.” Today’s devotional is a gentle invitation to breathe, to remember who your Father is, and to bring every burden to the One who carries you. As you read and pray, expect the Holy Spirit to meet you right where you are—at the kitchen table, in your car, on your lunch break—with fresh hope and deep peace.
Anchored by God’s Unfailing Word
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV) This verse is not just a memory verse for children; it is a lifeline for grown-up worries. God is inviting you to stop trying to figure everything out on your own and instead lean the full weight of your life on Him. When you surrender your plans, anxieties, and even your timelines, God promises to straighten the path before you—maybe not instantly, but certainly and faithfully. His wisdom reaches farther than your confusion, and His guidance is more reliable than your emotions.
Trusting God in the Ordinary and the Overwhelming
Most of life is lived in the ordinary: answering emails, folding laundry, paying bills, shuttling kids, caring for aging parents, sitting in traffic. Yet it’s often in these “ordinary” spaces that anxiety builds: Will there be enough money? Am I a good parent? Is my life really making a difference? God wants to meet you in these small, hidden moments. Choosing to trust Him means inviting Him into every part of your day—your schedule, your conversations, your decisions. When the news cycle is loud and the future feels uncertain, you can declare, “Lord, You see what I cannot see. I choose Your will over my worry.” Little decisions of trust, made over and over, quietly shape a strong, resilient faith that can weather any storm.
Drawing Near in Faith and Growing Deeper
Father, today I bring You my doubts, my questions, and my fears. Strengthen my faith where it feels thin and tired. Teach me to listen to Your voice above every other voice in my life. Help me grow roots that go deep into Your Word so that when winds of trouble blow, I will not be uprooted. Show me how to walk by faith and not by sight, to obey even when I do not fully understand, and to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. May my trust in You grow stronger today than it was yesterday, and may my life reflect Your goodness to the people around me.
Covering Our Families with God’s Peace
Lord, I place my family and loved ones into Your faithful hands. You see every tension, every unspoken fear, every need we try to hide. Bring healing where there is broken communication, distance, or conflict. Surround our homes with Your presence; let our houses be places of peace, forgiveness, and laughter. Give parents wisdom to guide their children, and children hearts that are tender and teachable. Protect marriages from bitterness and distraction. Restore prodigal hearts and soften long-held grudges. Knit our families together in love that reflects the love of Christ, and let Your peace rule over every conversation, decision, and relationship.
Health, Healing, and Inner Strength
Heavenly Father, You know every pain in our bodies and every ache in our souls. For those battling sickness, chronic pain, or exhaustion, stretch out Your healing hand. Guide doctors, nurses, and caregivers with insight beyond their training. For those weighed down by anxiety, depression, or emotional scars, speak peace to their minds and calm to their hearts. Replace fear with courage, despair with hope, and heaviness with the oil of gladness. Renew our strength today—physically, mentally, and spiritually—so that we can serve You with joy and run our race without giving up.
Work, Finances, and God’s Daily Provision
Lord, You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. You see every bill, every deadline, every looming decision at work. For those searching for a job, open doors that no one can shut
