Adrian Rogers Daily Devotional – October 13, 2026: Standing Steady in a Shaking World
Some days it feels like the ground is moving under your feet. News headlines rattle you, bills pile up, loved ones struggle, and your own heart feels tired and stretched thin. If you’re there today, you’re not alone. The same God who carried generations before us is standing with you right now. As Pastor Adrian Rogers so often reminded us, “The child of God is indestructible until God is through with him.” You are held, you are seen, and you are safe in Christ. Today’s devotional is an invitation to breathe, to lean in close to the Lord, and to remember that nothing happening around you can overrule what God is doing within you.
Anchored by an Unshakable Promise
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, NKJV)
This verse doesn’t say God was our help or will be our help someday; it says He is a very present help. Right now. In traffic, at work, in the doctor’s office, standing at the kitchen sink—He is not distant or distracted. “Refuge” means a shelter from the storm, a safe place when everything else feels exposed. “Strength” means He doesn’t just hide you; He upholds you. You don’t have to manufacture courage you don’t feel. You can draw on His strength, His peace, His wisdom. The more you turn your heart toward Him in the middle of your ordinary moments, the more you’ll notice His presence breathing calm into your chaos.
Faith That Walks Through Ordinary Tuesdays
Faith is not only for Sunday services or crisis moments. It’s for Tuesday mornings when the alarm goes off too early, when the kids won’t cooperate, when your boss is demanding, and when your body aches. Adrian Rogers often taught that real faith “puts its feet” on what it believes. That means talking to God before you scroll your phone, refusing to rehearse worst-case scenarios in your mind, and choosing to thank Him even when you don’t feel thankful. Today, when anxiety whispers, answer it with a verse. When discouragement comes, answer it with praise. When decisions loom, pause long enough to ask, “Lord, what honors You here?” Little daily choices like these train your heart to live aware of God’s nearness and ready for His guidance.
Drawing Near in Trust and Surrender
Father, today I bring You my faith, small and imperfect as it is. I confess that I don’t always feel strong or courageous, but I choose to trust Your heart. Help me grow in spiritual maturity. Deepen my love for Your Word. Stir in me a fresh hunger to pray, to listen, and to obey. When doubts rise, remind me that You are faithful even when I don’t see the full picture. Teach me to surrender my plans and expectations, believing that Your way is always better. Guard me from lukewarm living and casual compromise. Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that my thoughts, words, and actions reflect Jesus. Today, increase my faith, strengthen my spirit, and anchor my soul in Your unchanging character.
Covering Our Homes With God’s Peace
Lord, I place my family and loved ones before You. You know every tension, every silent ache, every unspoken need. Bring healing where there has been hurt, forgiveness where there has been misunderstanding, and tenderness where hearts have grown cold. Protect marriages, restore broken relationships between parents and children, and surround our homes with Your peace. Let our houses be places where Your name is honored, where laughter is heard, and where burdens can be laid down at Your feet. Give us patience with one another, gentle words, and quick repentance when we fail. May our families be little sanctuaries in a loud world, shining with Your love and grace.
Strength for Bodies, Minds, and Hearts
Gracious Healer, I bring my health and the health of those I love into Your hands. For those battling chronic pain, illness, or fatigue, be their comfort and strength. For those waiting on test results or facing surgery, calm fear and guide every medical professional involved. Heal broken bodies, soothe anxious minds, and restore weary emotions. Where there is depression, bring hope. Where there is insomnia, bring rest. Where there is fear of the future, bring deep assurance of Your care. Help us steward our
