Craig Groeschel Daily Devotional – October 13, 2026
If you woke up this morning feeling a little stretched, a little tired, or maybe even a little uncertain about what’s ahead, you’re not alone. God sees every detail of your story today—every bill, every diagnosis, every quiet tear, every hope you’re almost afraid to speak out loud. As Pastor Craig Groeschel often reminds us, God does some of His greatest work in us when life doesn’t look the way we planned. Today’s devotional is an invitation to breathe, to slow your heart, and to remember that your Father is already in every moment of this day, holding you steady in His hands.
Anchored by a Promise
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV) This verse pulls us away from the illusion that we need all the answers. Trust is not pretending everything makes sense; it’s choosing to lean on God when nothing does. When you stop depending on your own limited understanding and surrender your plans, fears, and timing to the Lord, He promises to direct your steps. Straight paths don’t always mean easy paths, but they do mean guided paths—shaped by the wisdom and love of the One who already sees the finish line.
When Faith Meets Real Life
Faith is not just for Sunday sermons or emotional moments; it’s for the traffic jam, the tense meeting, the doctor’s waiting room, and the kitchen sink full of dishes. Today, you can practice trust in simple, concrete ways: pausing to pray before you answer that difficult email, choosing to speak life instead of criticism, forgiving quickly, or turning off the noise for five minutes to sit quietly with God. When worry rises, answer it out loud with the Word of God. When you feel invisible, remind your soul that you are fully known and fully loved in Christ. Spiritual growth happens one surrendered decision at a time. You don’t have to feel strong to walk by faith; you just have to take the next step in obedience.
Drawing Near in Faith
Father, today I bring You my faith—fragile in some places, strong in others. Help me grow in trust, not only when I see Your hand, but also when I cannot trace Your plan. Strengthen my desire to know You more deeply through Scripture, worship, and quiet prayer. When doubts whisper, let Your truth shout louder in my heart. Guard me from distraction and spiritual laziness. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight, believing that You are at work in ways I cannot yet see. Shape my character, refine my motives, and help me love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Covering Our Homes in Peace
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You today. Cover our home with Your peace that passes understanding. Where there are strained relationships, bring healing, humility, and the courage to say “I’m sorry.” Protect our marriages, strengthen parents, and draw prodigal hearts back to You. Let our homes be places where Your presence is felt—in the conversations, the laughter, and even in the hard discussions. Guard our children and grandchildren in their schools, friendships, and online spaces. Surround those who live alone with Your nearness, reminding them they are never abandoned. May love, respect, and grace mark every interaction, and may our families become living testimonies of Your faithfulness.
Strength for Body and Soul
God, I place my health and the health of those I care about in Your capable hands. Where there is sickness, bring healing. Where there is pain, bring relief. Where there is anxiety, depression, or emotional weariness, breathe fresh hope. Give wisdom to doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Help me honor You with my body—through rest, wise choices, and healthy boundaries. When I feel weak, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in weakness. Calm the racing thoughts, steady the overwhelmed heart, and let Your joy become my strength today.
Work, Purpose, and Daily Bread
Lord, I surrender my work, career, and finances to You. You are Jehovah Jireh, my Provider. Open doors that no one can shut and close doors that are not from You. Grant wisdom for every decision, creativity for every challenge, and integrity in every opportunity. Bless the work of my hands, whether I’m in
