Why Your Relationships Keep Failing | The Kirk Cameron Show Ep 54
Stop Expecting People to Be Your Savior | Kirk Cameron Show
When you place all your hope on people, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. No one was ever meant to be your personal savior. That role belongs only to God.
We should be deeply thankful for the people God has placed in our lives. Love them, serve them, forgive them, and live in unity with them. But never forget—no human being can give you your true identity, your worth, or your purpose. No one can heal your past, transform your heart, or give you lasting peace. Asking someone to do that is like expecting them to be the fourth member of the Trinity. It’s impossible, and it will always lead to heartbreak.
Relationships are gifts from God, but they were never designed to carry the weight of your soul. There is only one source of life-changing, soul-healing peace: Jesus Christ. Only His sacrifice saves, secures, and sanctifies you.
Could the pain in your relationships come from placing unrealistic expectations on others—expectations only God can fulfill? There is only one Savior, and if you believe the gospel, He is yours forever. You no longer need to put that burden on anyone else.
We are called to love others faithfully, but to rest fully in God’s love for us. Commit to one another, but anchor your hope in Christ alone. People will fail—but Jesus never will.
