It’s Offering Time!
If you need an offering envelope, kindly raise your hand, and our ushers will assist you. As we prepare to give, I’d like to share two scriptures about the power of generosity and liberality in giving.
Scripture on Giving:
- 1 Corinthians 16:1-3 (KJV):
Paul instructs the churches regarding the collection for the saints. He says: - “Upon the first day of the week, let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.”Notice how Paul emphasizes giving without compulsion or specific percentages—only as God has prospered you. This offering supported the saints in Jerusalem and demonstrated generosity rooted in faith.
- Proverbs 11:25 (KJV):Here, “fat” signifies abundance and blessing. When we give freely and generously, God promises to bless us in return. Generosity creates a cycle of giving and receiving that transforms both the giver and the receiver.
Breaking Free Through Generosity
True giving in the New Testament flows from the heart, not from obligation. By embracing this mindset, we break free from the limitations imposed by tradition and percentages. Instead, we give with joy and gratitude, allowing God to guide our generosity.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the privilege to give. We offer our gifts today as You have prospered us, knowing that our giving transforms lives and advances Your kingdom. Bless this ministry, our church, and all those involved in making a difference. We praise You for the opportunity to partner in Your work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
