This program is made possible by the dedicated partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries. True faith means trusting God, even when life feels overwhelming and we can’t make sense of it all. I’m Joyce Meyer, and I’ve seen firsthand how God’s power can transform a life—He’ll do it for you too. Thank you for joining me today on Enjoying Everyday Life, where it’s my joy to share God’s word with you because I know it has the power to change lives.
Today, we’re talking about trusting God. Real peace comes only when we learn to let go and let God. Either we work, or He does, but when we try to handle things ourselves—like when we worry—it’s usually our attempt to fix things our way. First Peter 5:6-7 says, “Humble yourself under God’s mighty hand so that in due time He may lift you up. Cast all your worries on Him because He cares for you.” Humbling ourselves means trusting God fully, instead of relying on ourselves. Often, we try to solve things alone, but without God’s wisdom, it’s not possible.
Many of us struggle with self-reliance, especially early in our journey with God. We often transfer our lack of trust in people onto God, but He is completely trustworthy and true. People may fail us, but God is faithful, and His word is unbreakable. As 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 says, Paul and his companions faced such immense hardships that they despaired even of life, but God allowed this to teach them reliance on Him, not on their own strength.
Just like Paul, we may feel lost at times and question why challenges persist despite our faithfulness. Yet, over time, we often look back and realize these trials strengthened us spiritually more than the good times ever could. God wants us to depend on His power, not our own. Second Corinthians 3:5 reminds us, “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.”
I often pray, “God, I am nothing without You.” Any success we experience is due to His work through us. As Romans 12:3 cautions, “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment.” Remember, all our achievements are by His grace, not our own doing. Amen.
