Tony Evans Daily Devotional – October 21, 2026: Standing Strong in Shifting Times

If your heart feels pulled in a dozen directions today, you are not alone. The world seems to be shifting under our feet—news headlines, family pressures, health concerns, and financial questions all shouting at once. Yet right in the middle of the noise, God whispers, “Trust Me.” Today’s devotion is an invitation to step out of fear and into steady faith, to plant your feet on the solid rock of God’s Word and remember that you are not walking through this day by yourself. The Lord has already stepped into your tomorrow, and His grace is waiting to meet you there.

A Word That Holds When Everything Shakes

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, ESV)
This verse is more than a comforting slogan; it is a declaration about who God is right now, in your exact situation. A refuge is a safe place, a shelter that cannot be shaken by the storm raging outside. Strength is what you do not have on your own at 2 a.m. when the worries will not quiet down. “Very present” means God is not distant, distracted, or delayed—He is near, attentive, and actively involved. Wherever you feel weak or overwhelmed today, this verse gives you permission to run to Him, not as a last resort, but as your first response. He is both your place of safety and your source of power.

Living Anchored in a Drifting Culture

We live in a culture that constantly shifts its values and definitions, but as followers of Jesus, we are called to be anchored, not drifting. Being anchored does not mean we ignore the realities of bills, medical reports, or conflict; it means we face them with a different lens. Instead of rehearsing worst-case scenarios, we rehearse God’s promises. When anxiety rises, you can pause, breathe, and say, “Lord, I choose to trust You right here.” Try weaving short, honest prayers into your day: as you drive to work, wash dishes, or sit in a waiting room. Keep God’s Word close—on your phone, on a sticky note, in your heart. Small, steady steps of faith today shape a stronger, more grounded you tomorrow.

Prayer for Deepening Faith and Steady Growth

Lord, I bring You my doubts, my questions, and the places where my faith feels thin. Strengthen my trust in who You are, not in what I can control. Grow in me a faith that stands when circumstances shake, a faith that remembers Your past faithfulness and expects Your present goodness. Teach me to hunger for Your Word, to recognize Your voice, and to obey quickly, even in the small things. Let my heart be anchored in Your character, my mind renewed by Your truth, and my will aligned with Your purpose. Today, deepen my roots in Christ so that my life bears fruit that honors You.

Prayer for Family, Relationships, and Home

Father, I lift up my family and every relationship connected to my life. Step into our homes, our marriages, our parenting, our friendships, and our extended families. Where there is tension, bring peace. Where there is distance, draw hearts together. Heal old wounds and break generational patterns that do not honor You. Help us speak words that build up, not tear down. Cover our loved ones with Your grace, protect them from harm, and lead each of them closer to Jesus. Let our homes be places of warmth, forgiveness, laughter, and prayer—a refuge where Your presence is felt and Your love is known.

Prayer for Health, Strength, and Wholeness

Heavenly Father, You know every ache, diagnosis, and unspoken fear in my body and mind. I invite Your healing power into my life today. Strengthen my immune system, restore what is broken, and guide me toward wise choices for rest, nutrition, and care. Calm my nervous thoughts and quiet the emotional storms within. For those I love who are sick or suffering, stretch out Your hand to comfort, heal, and sustain them. Remind us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and help us honor You in how we care for them. Whether You heal instantly or gradually, I choose to trust Your goodness and lean on Your strength.

Prayer for Work, Finances, and Daily Provision

Lord, You see my work, my responsibilities, and the financial pressures I carry. I surrender my
