THIS Could Truly CHANGE America in 2025 | Kirk Cameron on TBN

How Can We Pray For You? Have you signed up yet?

Welcome to today’s episode! The following content was pre-recorded and remains one of my personal favorites from our “Takeaways” series. It features Dr. Marshall Foster, a cherished friend, mentor, and hero of the faith, who has since gone to be with the Lord. In this conversation, we delve into the history of spiritual revivals and the key elements necessary for a new revival—topics especially relevant given recent events in our nation. Thank you for watching. Together, let’s reignite the spirit within our Christian Republic and breathe new life into our faith and communities.

Marshall, we need revival in today’s world. What signs do you see in our culture that indicate we might be on the verge of a new spiritual awakening?

Dr. Marshall Foster: Revival always starts with the understanding that God orchestrates the affairs of humanity. For over 300 years, we have been the wealthiest and freest nation in history. Yet, in our prosperity, we’ve grown complacent and forgotten the mighty works of God. Jesus addressed this when He spoke to the church at Ephesus: “Remember from where you have fallen, repent, and do the deeds you did at first.”

In America’s history, there have been at least four great revivals. These awakenings typically come during times of despair when people have exhausted their reliance on material wealth and government and cry out to God. It is then that God responds, inviting us to return to Him. The path forward is simple: love God, learn His word, and live by His principles. By doing so, we not only transform our families but also our communities and cities, one step at a time.

This is the timeless strategy laid out in Deuteronomy 6. It begins with teaching our children God’s commandments as we go about our daily lives—when we rise, walk, and rest. Living by God’s principles naturally leads to transformation, extending from our homes to the city gates, and ultimately to the nation.

The Principles of Revival

In my book, The American Covenant: The Untold Story, I highlight how America’s founding fathers and mothers understood that God is sovereign, Jesus is the ruler of this world, and Satan is a defeated enemy. As believers, we’re not called to despair as our culture declines. Instead, we must take action, applying God’s principles to every area of life.

Whenever God’s mandates are followed, life is restored, even to what seems lost. Revival is possible if we humble ourselves, pray, turn from our sins, and align every aspect of our culture with God’s word. This is how our forefathers created the foundation of what became the greatest nation on earth.

What is the Role of God and Man in Revival?

Dr. Marshall Foster: Revival begins with God. Scripture and history both confirm this truth. While we are called to repentance, prayer, and obedience, it is God who tears open the heavens and pours out His Spirit.

Revival isn’t something we can manufacture by hosting an event or pitching a tent—it’s a divine act. However, when we step out in faith, repent, and seek God, He responds. This pattern has repeated throughout history. Even now, I see it in movements of prayer, repentance, and evangelism happening across the nation.

For instance, at a recent prayer breakfast, I witnessed a renewed hunger for God. Yesterday, while standing in an airport security line, a fellow traveler noticed me holding The American Covenant and asked about it. Conversations like these show how God is stirring hearts, planting seeds of revival everywhere.

Closing Thoughts

Revival is a collaborative process between humanity and God. As we pray and act in faith, God meets us with His Spirit. By returning to His principles and integrating them into every facet of our lives, we can experience the transformative power of revival. Together, we can build a future of hope for our children and a renewed culture rooted in God’s truth.

Let us humble ourselves, seek His face, and embrace His eternal plan for liberty and life. Revival is not just a hope—it’s a promise waiting to be fulfilled.
