The Pressure of the Potter’s Hands | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The Pressure of the Potter’s Hands
Monday, August 28, 2023 – The Withness of Discipleship
There were no discipleship correspondence courses in Messiah’s time. They couldn’t stay home. They had to go on the road with Him. Because the majority of His lessons weren’t things that could be in lesson plans. Some of Messiah’s teachings were with words, the rest were lessons of being, doing, seeing or being in His presence. How He was when He was alone with them, when He rose up, went to bed, entered a house, wept, rejoiced, healed and performed miracles, when He was asleep in the boat or when He stayed awake in the garden. As His disciple, you need to read, hear and be a student of His Word. But that’s not enough. You have to be with Him. When the Sanhedrin looked at the apostles, they recognized them as having been with Messiah. You have to spend time with Him, learn, behold, see, hear and follow Him. The Sanhedrin saw that the apostles spoke with authority because they were with Yeshua; Jesus. That’s the mark of a disciple. You do the same, so others will look at you and say, “This one was with the Messiah.”
So in other words, god wanted to do a work in them. He wanted to change them.
and and he wanna change it.
Now we go through these hard times, and we think the hard time we got a problem.
So we think the hard time is the problem We think our problem is the problem, but the problem is not the problem.
If we think the problem is the problem, that’s a problem. You see, the problem wasn’t the wilderness.
god could’ve let them through. And it’s and and it couldn’t be the problem because god put them there.
The problem was the old them, was them, where the Hebrews He, you’ll see, he wanted to change them and so they could inherit something very great.
We have hard times to think we think everything is is going on. think the problem’s the problem.
The problem’s not the problem because we have god above the problem.
And so what happens is we’re in a situation, and we don’t like the situation.
So that’s the So so our we want this inside doesn’t match what we want inside.
Doesn’t match what we’re we’re seeing in our life. So that’s the result.
You know, we don’t want So we wanna change the situation, and we so it can match what’s on the inside, what we want.
But god has something revolutionary. He wants to change the inside. so it matches his will.
So sometimes the promise of the cert the circumstances, the problem that we get to a point where we say, lord, I surrender.
Lord, I praise you. You know, when you praise god in the wilderness, that’s a victory right there.
You’re being changed. See, see, it’s one thing.
You know, if you can only praise him when you’re not in the wilderness, then you’re then your your week But if you get to the point where you praise them in the wilderness, you have overcome.
You have overcome. So he had to he has sometimes not change the wilderness so he can change you, then you can deal then you can have the rest.
If you pray, if everything you get everything you want, And every time you have a promise, goes away, you’re never gonna be changed.
You’re never gonna grow into the image of Messiah.
You, yeah, you generally don’t grow when everything is just status quo. That’s the way we are.
It’s when things don’t match up with what we want. that the change can come.
And you say lord, instead of saying change, change this, change it.
We can pray for that, change it, but that’s not the ultimate, but lord, more importantly, change me.
change me. Make it make you know, he’s the potter.
You gotta let the hands do its thing.
That means his hand, and the hand can only turn a lump of clay into a masterpiece by putting pressure on the clay.
So some we don’t like pressure.
We don’t like that, but he uses the pressure of the problem or the challenge or the adversity to mold the lump of clay that we are into a masterpiece.
