Steven Furtick Daily Devotional – October 06, 2026: Standing in the Middle of the Story

If you’re reading this today feeling like your life is somewhere “in between” – between what God promised and what you see, between hope and disappointment, between doors closing and not yet opening – you’re not alone. God does some of His deepest work in the middle of the story. This devotional is for the part of you that’s tired of waiting, tired of wondering, and quietly asking, “Lord, are You still with me?” Yes. He is. Right here. Right now. And He’s writing something in you that’s bigger than what you can see.

When the Middle Feels Messy

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6, NIV) This verse reminds us that God doesn’t abandon projects; He completes them. You are not an unfinished thought in His mind or a half-built structure He walked away from. What He began in your heart, your family, your calling, and your future, He fully intends to finish. The delay is not denial; it’s development. Even when your emotions waver, God’s commitment to you does not. He started this work, and He will see it through.

Choosing Faith in the Ordinary Moments

Faith isn’t just what happens in a church service or when you feel spiritually “on fire.” Faith is choosing to trust God on a Tuesday morning in traffic, in a difficult conversation, in a doctor’s office, or when your bank account makes you anxious. Today, invite God into the ordinary. Speak His promises over your fears. When negative thoughts come, respond with truth: “Lord, You began this work in me, and You will finish it.” Set a reminder on your phone with a verse. Pause for 30 seconds at lunch and whisper, “Jesus, I trust You with this day.” Small, consistent steps of faith shape a resilient, unshakable heart.

Lord, Grow My Faith in the Waiting

Father, today I bring You the part of me that wants to rush ahead. Strengthen my faith so I don’t confuse delay with abandonment. Teach me to lean into Your presence when I don’t understand what You’re doing. Stretch my trust beyond my feelings and past experiences. Help me believe You are working behind the scenes even when I see no movement. Grow in me a faith that remembers Your past faithfulness, clings to Your Word, and expects Your goodness in the days ahead. Let this waiting season build spiritual muscles that prepare me for what You’ve already planned.

Cover My Home with Your Peace

Lord Jesus, I lift my family and everyone connected to my life. Bring peace into our home where there has been tension, distance, or unspoken hurt. Heal broken communication between spouses, parents and children, siblings, and extended family. Let forgiveness flow where bitterness has taken root. Surround my loved ones with Your protection and draw each of us closer to You. Give us hearts that serve one another, words that build up instead of tear down, and a home atmosphere where Your presence is welcome and felt. Let our household be a place of safety, kindness, and grace.

Strength for My Body and Soul

Heavenly Father, You know every ache, diagnosis, and silent struggle. I ask for healing over my body and renewing in my mind. Strengthen my immune system, calm my nervous system, and restore what stress and worry have worn down. For anyone battling chronic pain, sickness, or emotional heaviness, breathe fresh hope today. Replace anxiety with Your peace and weariness with Your joy. Guide doctors, therapists, and caregivers who serve us. Help me make wise choices in rest, nutrition, and boundaries. Remind me that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and that You care deeply about my physical and emotional well-being.

God Over My Work and Finances

Lord, I surrender my job, my search for work, my business, and my financial situation to You. Where there is pressure, bring clarity. Where there is lack, release provision. Open doors that no man can shut and close the doors that would distract or harm me. Give me favor with employers, customers, and colleagues. Fill me with creativity, diligence, and integrity in everything I do. Teach me to steward every dollar wisely, to live generously even when it feels tight, and to trust that You are my
