Paul Washer Daily Devotional – October 18, 2026
This morning, as you step into a world filled with pressure, distractions, and countless voices, the Lord is inviting you to slow down and hear His voice above all others. Teachers like Paul Washer often remind us that genuine Christianity is not about shallow emotion or religious performance, but about a living, breathing relationship with a holy God who truly transforms our hearts. Today, God is not asking you to be perfect; He is calling you to be surrendered. Right where you are—in your kitchen, at your desk, driving to work—He is reaching for you with unwavering love and relentless grace. Let this devotional be a quiet moment where your soul can breathe, your faith can be strengthened, and your heart can be anchored again in the truth of Christ.
Anchored in the Gospel Today
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20, NKJV)
This verse captures the very heartbeat of the gospel that preachers like Paul Washer tirelessly proclaim: real Christianity is not self-improvement; it is a new life in Christ. You are not simply trying harder; you are learning to trust deeper. “Crucified with Christ” means your old guilt, shame, and self-reliance were nailed to the cross. The life you now live—yes, with your responsibilities, your job, your family, your daily struggles—is to be lived by faith in the One who loves you and gave Himself for you. You are not abandoned to figure things out alone; Christ Himself lives in you.
Living Set Apart in an Ordinary Monday
Sometimes it feels like the Christian life should look more dramatic, more “spiritual,” more impressive. Yet most of our days feel very ordinary—school runs, emails, bills, hard conversations, tired evenings. God is not disappointed by your ordinary; He wants to fill it with His presence. To live “set apart” in America today doesn’t always mean doing bigger things for God—it often means doing the small things with a bigger heart for God.
When you choose integrity at work instead of cutting corners, Christ is living through you. When you hold your tongue during an argument and pray for patience, Christ is living through you. When you open your Bible instead of scrolling one more time on your phone, Christ is living through you. Holiness is not a burden but a gift—a way of living free from the chains that once bound you. Ask the Lord today to make your home, your workplace, your car, and even your thought life a place where Jesus is honored and trusted.
Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender
Father, in Jesus’ name, I come to You today with an open heart. I confess that on my own I am weak, distracted, and easily discouraged. Increase my faith, Lord. Teach me to value Your presence more than the approval of people and the comforts of this world. I surrender my plans, my expectations, and my fears to You.
Lord, deepen my roots in Christ. Guard me from a shallow, emotion-driven faith and build in me a faith that clings to Your Word when I do not see the answers yet. Help me turn from hidden sin, compromise, and lukewarmness. I do not want to play at religion; I want to truly know You. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, that I may love what You love, hate what You hate, and walk in joyful obedience. Let Christ be clearly seen in my words, attitudes, and choices today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Grace Over Our Homes and Relationships
Lord God, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You see every tension, every unspoken hurt, every fear for our children and grandchildren. I ask You to visit our home with Your peace. Heal strained marriages, restore broken trust, and replace bitterness with forgiving hearts. Let our homes be more than places of sleeping and eating; make them altars of worship where Your Word is read, Your name is honored, and Your love is shared.
Protect our children from deception, addiction, and destructive influences. Give parents wisdom and tenderness, grandparents strength and joy, and every family member a fresh hunger for Jesus. May our conversations be seasoned with grace and truth, and may Your presence be felt in every room.
