Making Prayer Your First Response | Christine Caine’s Life & Leadership Podcast | Mattie Meese

How Can We Pray For You? Have you signed up yet?

Many people ask, “What fuels this ministry?” My answer is simple—prayer. Prayer moves God, and when God moves, He moves mountains.

Hi friends, I’m Christine Caine, and you’re listening to the Life and Leadership Podcast, where we engage in powerful conversations with faith-filled leaders from around the world.

Gratitude in Every Season

God, I have so much to be thankful for. Even in the midst of suffering, You are present. I believe a new generation is rising, choosing consecration over deconstruction. As believers, we are ambassadors of another kingdom, representing Christ in all we do.

My prayer is that our time together each week will inspire and equip you to fulfill your God-given purpose and follow Jesus wholeheartedly as you lead in your sphere of influence.

Q&A: Answering Your Questions on Prayer

In fact, today’s episode is inspired by your feedback. I love answering your questions, so keep them coming! I’m thrilled to be joined by our E&E Communications Manager, Maddie, as we dive into a topic that’s close to my heart—prayer.

We’ve received so many questions about prayer, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts. Maddie, I know from working with you that prayer is foundational to our team and culture. In Season 1, Bianca talked about how you led in prayer even during your battle with cancer. That moment deeply resonated with many listeners who are struggling with fear and uncertainty.

Why Prayer is the Most Effective Strategy Against Fear

That’s such a great question, Maddie. I know there are people listening today who are facing sickness, major life crises, or overwhelming fear. Here’s the truth: because I’ve spent 35 years cultivating a life of prayer, it has become my first response in every situation. My intimacy with Jesus overflows into my daily life.

But let me be clear—this doesn’t mean you need years of experience to pray effectively. If you’re in crisis, pray now. If you haven’t prayed in years, God still listens. Whether you’re crying out, “God, please help me!” or offering a quiet prayer from your heart, He hears you.

Too often, people hesitate to pray because they feel unworthy, inarticulate, or unfamiliar with formal prayers. But here’s the reality—prayer is simply talking to God. There’s no formula, no perfect words—just a sincere heart.

A Simple Truth About Prayer

Let me share a story that perfectly illustrates this. A friend of mine once hosted a conference for 3,000 women. They invited a renowned prayer leader from South Korea—none other than the wife of Dr. Yonggi Cho, known for leading a 24/7 prayer movement.

Imagine the anticipation in the room. These women were ready, notebooks in hand, eager to learn from a true prayer warrior. The host introduced her, the crowd held their breath, and she stepped up to the microphone.

She had a full hour to speak, but all she said was:

“Prayer very easy. Open mouth. Pray.”

Then, she sat down.

The audience was stunned. But in that moment, she revealed a profound truth—prayer doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s simply opening your mouth and speaking to God.

As we dive deeper into today’s episode, I want to encourage you: just start. Open your heart. Open your mouth. Pray.
