Lysa TerKeurst Daily Devotional May 30, 2026

If you’re picking this up today feeling a little worn thin, you are not alone. Maybe you’re trying to hold your family together, show up for work, manage bills, care for your health, and still smile at church on Sunday. Underneath it all, there’s a quiet question: “Lord, are You really in this with me?” Today, let this devotional be a gentle reminder that God sees you, God hears you, and God is not finished with your story. Right here in the middle of the mess and the mystery, He is inviting you to lean into His heart, trust His timing, and rest in His unfailing love.

Grace for the Middle of the Story

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, ESV) This verse doesn’t promise that heartbreak won’t come; it promises something deeper and better: God’s nearness in the heartbreak. He is not a distant observer of your pain. He is present in the doctor’s office, in the kitchen late at night when you’re still awake, in the car commute when tears surprise you at a red light. When life doesn’t look anything like what you prayed for, this verse anchors us: God is near, God is saving, God is working. He bends low to gather what we think is ruined and begins to gently rebuild what only He can restore.

Choosing Trust When Answers Are Slow

Trusting God doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It means bringing the real, raw version of your heart to Him and refusing to walk away. Today, you can choose to say, “Lord, I don’t see the full picture, but I choose to believe You are good and You are here.” Practically, this might look like pausing before you react, whispering, “Jesus, help me respond with Your wisdom.” It might be writing one verse on a sticky note and putting it by the sink or on your dashboard. It might be reaching out to a trusted friend and asking for prayer instead of isolating. Spiritual growth often happens in small, hidden decisions: turning to God again and again, even when you still feel weak.

Lord, Strengthen My Faith Today

Father, in the middle of everything I’m carrying, increase my faith. Where doubt has crept in, breathe fresh hope. Teach me to trust Your heart even when I can’t trace Your hand. Grow in me a deeper hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Help me to remember that my feelings are real but not always the final truth—Your Word is. Shape my thoughts, my expectations, and my desires to align with Your will. Give me courage to keep obeying You in the little things, believing that nothing done in faith is ever wasted. Draw me close today, and remind me that You are not disappointed in my weakness; You delight to meet me there.

Cover My Home with Your Peace

Lord, I bring my family and relationships before You. You see every unspoken tension, every misunderstood word, every silent ache. Bring peace where there has been conflict, tenderness where there has been distance, and forgiveness where there has been hurt. Protect my loved ones—spouse, children, parents, siblings, and friends. Guard our hearts from bitterness and harshness. Help us to speak life over one another and to listen with compassion. Let our home be a refuge of grace, not a battlefield of criticism. Where there are prodigal hearts, draw them back. Where there are strained marriages, breathe renewal. Where there is loneliness, surround with godly community. Let Your love be the atmosphere of our home.

Health, Healing, and Emotional Rest

Heavenly Father, You know every detail of my body and my mind. For the places that hurt, I ask for Your healing touch. Strengthen my immune system, renew my energy, and steady my emotions. Calm anxious thoughts and quiet the noise of fear. Give me wisdom to care for my body with rest, nourishment, and balance. Where I carry shame about my health or appearance, replace it with a deep awareness that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Heal old wounds, traumatic memories, and buried grief. Let Your joy become my strength, and Your presence become my safe place. Teach me to cast every care on You, because You truly care for me.
