Give Value to Your Words – The Law of Confession
The Believer’s Walk of Faith is made possible through the faithful support of partners and viewers of Bill Winston Ministries.
There is a powerful spiritual principle called the law of confession. Like the law of gravity, it operates consistently and predictably. A law is a principle that produces the same result every time. When you understand the law of confession, you begin to recognize the direct connection between your words and the outcomes you experience in life.
Many people fail to realize that what they continually speak eventually shapes what they receive.
You can speak life, or you can speak death. Words are not just sounds or empty noise. According to Scripture, words carry spiritual power. Your spirit stores the words you repeatedly believe and declare, and when pressure or adversity comes, those words are what rise to the surface.
The enemy seeks access to your life through your words. Satan wants you to speak fear, doubt, negativity, and unbelief. His goal is to get you to say something that contradicts what God has spoken.
In Book of Proverbs chapter 18, the Bible says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. It does not say they are in the power of the devil. The tongue carries authority, and what people speak has spiritual consequences.
The teaching references the life of Job, explaining how fear and negative thinking opened the door for destruction. In Book of Proverbs chapter 30, Scripture warns that when evil thoughts arise, a person should place a hand over their mouth. Wrong thoughts eventually become spoken words if they are not controlled.
Likewise, in Book of Psalms 39, David declared that he would guard his tongue while the wicked stood before him. This highlights the importance of protecting one’s words because spiritual battles are often connected to what is spoken.
The message then explains several types of confession found in the Bible.
One example is the confession of sins before baptism during the ministry of John the Baptist. Another is the confession of faith found in Epistle to the Romans chapter 10, where believers confess Jesus Christ as Lord and believe in His resurrection for salvation.
Salvation does not require listing every past sin individually. According to Gospel of John chapter 16, the central issue for unbelievers is rejecting Christ. Once a person receives Jesus by faith, they become a new creation.
A third type of confession is found in First Epistle of John chapter 1, where believers confess sins to restore fellowship with God. Scripture promises that God is faithful to forgive and cleanse from all unrighteousness.
However, believers are warned not to continually dwell on past failures because constant condemnation weakens faith. God forgives and forgets, and believers must learn to walk in freedom rather than living under guilt.
The Greek word for confession, “homologeo,” means “to say the same thing” or “to agree with.” Biblical confession is agreeing with what God says about your life, your identity, your healing, your purpose, and your future.
Dr. Bill Winston compares this to communication between a pilot and an air traffic controller. When instructions are given, the pilot must acknowledge and repeat them back. In the same way, believers are called to acknowledge and repeat what God has spoken.
The teaching emphasizes that many Christians have only understood confession from a negative perspective, focusing mainly on sin and failure. Yet the Bible places great emphasis on positive faith confession.
Positive thinking alone is not enough. While positive thinking may improve a person’s attitude, it does not automatically transform circumstances. Biblical confession goes beyond optimism because it is rooted in the promises and authority of God’s Word.
According to this spiritual law, no one rises above the level of their confession.
Wrong confession glorifies fear and gives place to the enemy, while right confession glorifies God and releases faith. Many people believe they are simply “telling it like it is,” but faith speaks according to God’s promises before physical evidence appears.
In Book of Joel chapter 3, the Bible says, “Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’” In the Kingdom of God, believers must first speak God’s truth before they see manifestation in the natural world.
Jesus taught that the heart is not merely a physical organ but the spirit of a person. The spirit stores words like seeds, and those seeds eventually produce visible fruit in life.
Much of modern education trains the intellect but ignores the reality of the spirit. Scripture teaches that human beings are spirit, soul, and body. The real person is spirit, possessing a soul and living in a physical body.
In Epistle to the Romans chapter 12, believers are instructed to renew their minds so they can align with spiritual truth and live lives pleasing to God.
Jesus declared in Gospel of John chapter 6 that His words are spirit and life. This means words are living spiritual forces, not merely sounds. Harmful words can linger in a person’s mind for years because they carry spiritual weight.
The teaching also warns believers to guard casual speech, jokes, and negative expressions. Statements like “I’m dying,” “My feet are killing me,” or constantly speaking defeat can influence the spirit negatively. Believers are encouraged to speak intentionally and align their words with life, healing, victory, and faith.
The enemy wants access to every area of life through negative confession, including marriages, finances, health, children, and purpose. But God desires believers to use their mouths to release truth, faith, and blessing.
When God said, “Let there be light,” creation responded. Humanity was made in God’s image, designed to function through spirit-led speech. In Book of Genesis, God breathed life into man, creating a speaking spirit with the capacity to release words carrying authority.
This teaching explains that spiritual laws operate above natural laws. Peter walked on water because he responded to the spoken word of Jesus. The power of God’s Word overruled natural limitations.
Believers are encouraged to build confidence in the power of their words, speak what they truly desire to see come to pass, and align their confession with God’s promises.
The broadcast also includes an invitation from Bill Winston to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He shares how attending church as a child did not automatically create a personal relationship with God. True transformation came when he personally confessed Jesus as Lord, and his life changed completely.
New believers are encouraged to begin their spiritual journey through faith, prayer, and the study of God’s Word.
The program also highlights Dr. Winston’s book, “Manifesting the Billion Flow,” which focuses on renewing the mind, operating in Kingdom principles, and manifesting divine ideas, supernatural increase, and God-given purpose to impact nations and generations.
Bill Winston Ministries continues its mission to preach the Gospel worldwide, train believers to live by faith, and help people walk in spiritual authority and dominion through the power of God’s Word.
As Bill Winston reminds believers, faith is essential to reaching your destiny. Guard your words, align your confession with Scripture, and continue walking by faith.
