Craig Groeschel Daily Devotional – October 20, 2026

Some days you wake up ready to take on the world. Other days, you wake up with a knot in your stomach and a mind full of questions. If this morning feels heavy, you are not alone—and you are not without hope. God is already in your day, already in your details, already working in the places you cannot see. As you pause with this devotional, imagine the Lord sitting across from you, listening, caring, and speaking gently to your heart. Today, God invites you to trust Him one more time, take one more step of faith, and believe that He is writing a story more beautiful than anything you could imagine.

Steady Hope for a Restless Heart

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV)

These verses cut straight through the noise of our anxious thoughts. Trust is not passive; it is a deliberate decision to lean the full weight of our hearts on God, even when life doesn’t make sense. “Lean not on your own understanding” doesn’t mean your feelings or questions are wrong—it means they’re not the final authority. When you surrender your way and your timing to God, He promises to “make your paths straight.” That doesn’t always mean easy or quick, but it does mean guided, purposeful, and ultimately good.

Faith for the Ordinary Moments

You may not stand on a stage or lead a large ministry like Craig Groeschel, but you lead a life that matters immensely to God. Your kitchen table, your workplace, your classroom, your daily commute—these are the altars where faith is lived out. Today, you have the opportunity to invite Jesus into the ordinary moments: into that difficult email, the tense conversation, the decision you’ve been delaying, the exhaustion you don’t talk about.

Ask yourself: Where am I leaning on my own understanding? Is it in parenting, finances, health, or relationships? What would it look like to pause, breathe, and say, “Lord, I release this to You”? One practical step: before you pick up your phone or open your inbox today, whisper a simple prayer—“Jesus, I trust You with this day. Lead me.” Small, repeated acts of surrender open big doors for God’s peace and direction.

Anchored Hearts and Growing Faith

Father, in a world that pulls our attention in a thousand directions, teach us to anchor our hearts in You. Grow our faith beyond convenience into commitment. When doubt whispers that You’ve forgotten us, remind us of Your faithfulness in our past. When fear tells us to take control, remind us that true freedom is found in surrender. Strengthen our desire to read Your Word, to listen for Your voice, and to respond in obedience, even when obedience is costly. Shape our priorities so that Jesus is not a side note in our schedule, but the center of our lives. May our faith today not be based on feelings, but on Your unchanging character and Your unfailing promises.

Grace Over Every Household

Lord, we lift our families and loved ones to You right now. You see every home represented, every marriage, every single parent, every blended family, every child, every grandparent. Where there is tension, bring understanding. Where there is silence, open up honest and gracious communication. Heal old wounds, soften hard hearts, and surround our homes with Your peace. Protect our children and grandchildren—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Give parents wisdom and patience when they feel exhausted. Restore unity where the enemy has sown division. Let our homes be places where Your presence is welcome, where forgiveness flows freely, and where love is expressed in both words and actions.

Strength for Body, Mind, and Soul

Jesus, You are the Great Physician. We bring our bodies, our minds, and our emotions to You. For those battling sickness, chronic pain, or hidden health struggles, stretch out Your healing hand. Guide doctors, nurses, and caregivers with wisdom from above. For those living with anxiety, depression, or overwhelming stress, pour out Your supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to care for our bodies as temples of Your Spirit—give us discipline to rest well, eat wisely, move our bodies, and seek help when needed. Restore what has been depleted. Replace fatigue with strength, fear with courage, and despair with renewed
