Alistair Begg – Daily Devotional October 23, 2026
If your heart feels pulled in a dozen directions today, you are not alone. Many believers across our nation wake up with the weight of uncertainty, family concerns, financial pressures, and a quiet longing for God to feel near again. This devotional is for you. On this October day, pause with me and remember: the same faithful God preached about by voices like Alistair Begg is the God who sits with you right now, in your living room, your car, your office break room. He has not changed. His Word is still enough, His grace is still sufficient, and His promises still hold—even when your emotions wobble. Let’s draw near together, opening our hearts to the Lord who meets us in ordinary days and difficult moments with extraordinary mercy.
Anchored by an Unshakable Promise
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) This verse is short, but it speaks like thunder into our anxious hearts. The world changes. Leaders come and go. Opinions shift. But Jesus does not evolve, mature, or adjust. He is eternally perfect and unchanging in His love, power, and wisdom. The Christ who died and rose again is the same Savior who holds you today. That means His compassion toward you is not fragile. His patience is not running out. His promises do not have an expiration date. When your circumstances scream, “Everything is falling apart,” Hebrews 13:8 gently answers, “No—your Savior still reigns.” You can build your entire life on this solid rock without fear that He will ever move.
Walking with Christ in the Ordinary and the Overwhelming
Because Jesus is unchanging, today matters. Your commute, your appointments, your sink full of dishes, your late-night worries—none of it is outside His care. Spiritual growth rarely happens in spectacular mountaintop moments; it usually unfolds in the middle of emails, errands, and small, unseen decisions to trust God. Invite Christ into your routines: whisper a prayer before you answer a tense message, breathe a Scripture over your child’s bed, thank God between meetings. When irritation rises, ask the Holy Spirit for gentleness. When fear creeps in, speak God’s Word over your heart. Following Jesus today means leaning on Him moment by moment, believing He is present in both the noise and the quiet. He does not simply get you to heaven; He walks beside you on the way there.
Turning Your Heart Toward Deeper Faith
Lord Jesus, You do not change, even when my faith feels unsteady. Strengthen my trust in You today. Help me to believe Your Word more than I believe my feelings or my fears. Grow in me a deeper hunger for Your presence and a sharper love for Your truth. Teach me to surrender my plans, my timelines, and my expectations, resting in the certainty that You see what I cannot. Where doubt whispers, speak peace. Where shame lingers, remind me of the cross. I yield my heart, my thoughts, and my desires to You. Shape me, correct me, and renew me so that my life reflects Your grace and Your goodness in every season.
Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace
Father, I place my family and loved ones in Your faithful hands. Heal broken communication, soften hardened hearts, and protect our homes from division and bitterness. Let forgiveness flow where there has been hurt, and kindness replace harsh words. Draw wandering hearts back to You. Give parents wisdom, children obedience and tenderness, and marriages endurance and joy. May our homes be places where Your Word is honored, prayer is natural, and encouragement flows freely. Guard our families from the pressures and lies of this world. Surround our loved ones with Your angels, and let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and in every room of our homes.
Health, Healing, and Quiet Strength
Lord, You know every ache, diagnosis, and hidden struggle. For those battling illness, chronic pain, or emotional exhaustion, stretch out Your healing hand. Grant relief, restore strength, and guide doctors, nurses, and caregivers with divine wisdom. Calm racing thoughts, lift the fog of depression, and soothe anxious hearts with Your presence. Remind us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and help us to steward them well with rest, nourishment, and wise choices. When healing is slow, be our comfort; when we are frightened, be our refuge. Let Your joy be our strength, and Your ne
