Dr. David Jeremiah Daily Devotional – October 20, 2026: Holding On to Hope When You Feel Worn Out
Some mornings you wake up and feel the weight before your feet ever touch the floor. Deadlines, doctor’s reports, family concerns, bills, and the quiet ache of questions you can’t quite put into words. If that’s where you are today, you are not alone—and you are not abandoned. The God who carried you yesterday is standing beside your bed this very moment, ready to walk with you again. Today’s devotional, inspired by the kind of faith-filled teaching Dr. David Jeremiah shares, is an invitation to lift your eyes from what drains you and fix them on the Lord who sustains you. Right in the middle of your real life—in America’s traffic, headlines, and hectic schedules—God is writing a story of steady hope, unshakable faith, and daily grace.
Anchored by a Promise
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, NKJV) This verse is more than a poetic line; it is a lifeline for tired hearts. To “wait on the Lord” means to lean your full weight on Him, to look to Him with expectation instead of panic. God never promised we wouldn’t grow weary; He promised that when we bring our weariness to Him, He will exchange it for His strength. Like an eagle that rises above the turbulence on invisible currents of air, you and I are invited to rise above anxiety, fear, and discouragement on the unseen but very real power of the Holy Spirit.
Living Steady in an Unsteady World
Your world may feel unstable—politics shifting, prices rising, relationships changing—but Christ in you is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Spiritual growth doesn’t usually happen in spectacular moments; it happens in quiet, repeated choices. Choosing Scripture instead of scrolling. Whispering, “Lord, I trust You,” instead of rehearsing every worst-case scenario. Offering kindness when you’d rather withdraw. Today, ask the Lord to help you practice His presence in ordinary moments: driving to work, packing lunches, responding to emails. When fear speaks, answer it with faith: “God is with me right here, right now.” As you do, your heart will learn a new rhythm—less driven by urgency, more guided by peace.
Strengthen My Faith, Lord
Father, in Jesus’ name, I bring You my doubts, my questions, and my fragile faith. You know the thoughts that keep me awake at night and the concerns that fill my mind the moment I open my eyes. Today I ask You to deepen my trust in You. Teach me to rest in Your character more than in my circumstances. Help me to believe that You are working even when I cannot see it. Grow in me a resilient faith that does not give up, give in, or give out. Holy Spirit, open my ears to Your voice, my eyes to Your work, and my heart to Your leading. Make my faith more than words; shape it into daily obedience and quiet confidence in Your goodness.
Grace for My Home
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. Cover our home with Your peace. Where there is tension, bring understanding. Where there is distance, build bridges of forgiveness. Heal old wounds, soften hard hearts, and knit us together in Christlike love. Protect our marriages, strengthen parents, and guide children and grandchildren in Your truth. May our conversations be gentle and honest. Let laughter return where it has been missing. Make our home a refuge from the storms of life, a place where Your presence is welcomed, Your Word is honored, and Your love is tangibly felt in every room.
Healing for Body and Soul
Jesus, You are the Great Physician, and I bring my health and the health of those I love before You. Touch every place of pain, disease, and weakness. Give wisdom to doctors, nurses, and caregivers. For chronic conditions, grant endurance and relief. For hidden emotional wounds—anxiety, depression, grief, trauma—shine Your healing light into the deepest places of the heart. Replace fear with calm, turmoil with stillness, and exhaustion with renewed strength. Teach me to steward my body well: to rest when I need rest, to nourish it wisely, and to remember that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Let Your healing power flow through every part
