Courage to Trust: Craig Groeschel Daily Devotional – October 18, 2026

If you’re reading this today feeling stretched, tired, or quietly anxious about what’s ahead, you’re not alone. God sees every burden you’re carrying and every question that keeps you awake at night. On this October 18, pause with me and breathe in this truth: you are not facing this day in your own strength. The same God who formed the galaxies is leaning in close, ready to walk every step with you. Today’s devotional is an invitation to release the pressure, to trade control for trust, and to rediscover the steady hope we have in Jesus.

Rooted in the Unshakeable Word

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV)

This verse is more than a memory verse from childhood—it is a roadmap for days exactly like this one. God doesn’t ask you to figure everything out; He asks you to trust Him with all your heart. That means when the report isn’t good, when money feels tight, when relationships are strained, you do not have to lean on your limited understanding. As you surrender your plans, timelines, and fears to Him, He promises to “make your paths straight”—to guide, correct, and lead you into His good, wise, and loving will.

Living Trust in the Middle of Real Life

Trusting God is not a theory we admire from a distance; it’s a decision we make in the grind of daily life. It shows up when you choose prayer over panic, worship over worry, and obedience over convenience. Maybe you’re facing a tough decision at work, a child who’s drifting, or an unanswered prayer that aches in your soul. Today, ask, “Lord, how can I trust You right here?” Then take one small, concrete step of obedience—send the encouraging text, forgive that offense, open your Bible before you open your phone. Growth is often hidden in small, faithful choices that seem insignificant but shape our hearts over time.

Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender

Father, in Jesus’ name, I lift my faith to You. Where my trust has grown weak, strengthen me. Where I’ve tried to control outcomes, teach me to surrender. Increase my desire for Your presence more than for easy answers. I ask for a fresh hunger for Your Word, a deeper love for Jesus, and a clearer sensitivity to Your Holy Spirit. Help me to walk by faith, not by sight, believing that You are working even when I cannot see it. Let my life be a testimony of quiet confidence in Your character, not in my circumstances. Today, I choose to lean on You, to honor You in my attitudes, my words, and my decisions.

Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace

Lord, I bring my family, loved ones, and relationships before You. Heal what is broken, soften hearts where there is tension, and restore what the enemy has tried to steal. Let our homes be places of peace, not pressure; grace, not criticism; connection, not distance. Teach us to listen well, to speak kindly, and to forgive quickly. Protect our marriages, our children, our friendships, and every relationship You’ve entrusted to us. May Your presence fill our houses, apartments, and dorm rooms so strongly that anxiety has no room to stay. Unite us in love, purpose, and mutual encouragement as we follow You together.

Health, Healing, and Inner Strength

Jesus, You are the Great Physician. I bring my body, mind, and emotions to You. Where there is sickness, let Your healing power flow. Where there is fatigue, renew strength. Calm racing thoughts, quiet the inner storm, and replace fear with Your perfect peace. Help me to steward my health wisely—through rest, wise choices, and obedience to what You’re nudging me to change. For those I love who are battling illness, depression, or anxiety, I ask for Your comfort, breakthrough, and hope. Remind us that even in weakness, Your grace is enough and Your power is made perfect.

Work, Calling, and Daily Provision

Father, I surrender my work, career, studies, and finances to You. You are Jehovah Jireh—my Provider. Give me wisdom for decisions, courage for challenges, and diligence in every assignment, seen or unseen. Open doors that no
