Joel Osteen Daily Devotional – October 16, 2026: God Is Still Writing Your Story

If you’re reading this today, it means God has given you another day, another page in your story, another chance to believe that His hand is still at work in your life. Maybe you woke up with worries about bills, your health, your children, or your future. Maybe you feel like certain chapters have gone so wrong that nothing good could ever come from them. But right here, right now, the Lord is whispering to your heart: “I’m not finished with you. I still have good plans for your life.” This is a day to breathe again, to hope again, and to trust that the God who brought you this far will not abandon you now.

Anchored By God’s Promise

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV) God doesn’t start something and then walk away. The work He began in your heart when you gave your life to Christ is still unfolding. Even when you feel stuck, He’s moving. Even when prayers seem unanswered, He’s arranging. This verse reminds you that your progress is not based on your perfection; it’s based on His faithfulness. He’s not waiting for you to be flawless before He blesses you—He’s walking with you in the middle of the mess, shaping you, strengthening you, and preparing something better than you imagined.

Growing Through Every Season

Some days faith feels strong and unshakable, and other days it feels like a flickering candle in the wind. That doesn’t make you a failure; it makes you human. Spiritual growth doesn’t always look dramatic. Often it’s quiet and steady—choosing to forgive one more time, offering one more prayer, showing up at work with a right attitude, or being kind when you feel drained. Every small step of obedience is a seed planted in God’s hands. When you choose to trust Him instead of giving in to fear, you’re building spiritual muscle. Today, decide to speak hope over your circumstances. Remind yourself that delays are not denials and that God is using even the hard places to deepen your roots and enlarge your capacity to receive His blessings.

Prayer For Faith And Deeper Trust

Father in heaven, I bring my faith to You today, just as it is. Strengthen my heart to believe that You are good, that You are for me, and that You are guiding my steps. Where doubt has crept in, wash it away with Your truth. Help me to hear Your voice above the noise of fear and anxiety. Teach me to lean on Your understanding instead of my own. Grow my spiritual hunger so that I long for Your Word, Your presence, and Your will. Let my faith not be based on what I see or feel, but on who You are—faithful, loving, and unchanging. Let our homes be places of joy, laughter, and safety, where Your presence is welcome and Your love is felt.
