Your Calling as an End-Time Watchman | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
You possess true and lasting authority, no matter what the world says. Rank, titles, and positions may appear powerful, but real authority comes from the one who owns the house. If a ruler stands against the Master, while a servant remains faithful to the Master, then that servant carries greater authority than the ruler. When you walk in God’s ways, honor His will, and boldly speak His Word, you stand under the authority of Heaven itself. That authority does not depend on culture, governments, or public approval. It comes from God alone.
There was a time when America openly reflected biblical values. Prayer was heard in schools, newspapers printed sermons, Bible studies were common, and faith was woven into public life. What would seem unusual today was once considered normal. Much of Western civilization was built like a house that acknowledged its true Owner. Yet history shows that when people forget the Master, decline begins. Just as Israel turned to the golden calf when Moses delayed on the mountain, modern society has often turned from God toward idols, pleasure, and self-rule.
This spiritual rebellion mirrors the warning of Scripture. Many now reject God’s commands, redefine right and wrong, and act as if humanity can replace the Creator. Values once defended are now attacked. Those who remain faithful are often criticized by the same voices that once stood for truth. This falling away is itself a sign of the times. The Bible teaches that before the Lord returns, there will be widespread apostasy, moral confusion, and spiritual darkness across the earth.
Yet believers are not called to fear the darkness. They are called to shine in it. Jesus said to keep your lamps burning, meaning faith must remain alive even in difficult times. The darker the night becomes, the brighter God’s people should shine. The world does not need silent faith; it needs courageous faith. Believers are not meant to reflect culture but to transform it through truth, love, and holiness.
So how should a faithful servant live in a world that has turned from the Master? First, remember that the house still belongs to Him. God is still on the throne. Second, stay rooted in His truth and do not drift with the culture. Third, recognize that evil has limits, but God’s authority does not. Fourth, live by faith, not by what your eyes see. Fifth, strengthen your relationship with the Lord through prayer and His Word. Sixth, hold firmly to biblical truth without compromise. Seventh, live with discipline, focus, and readiness. Eighth, let your light shine boldly. Ninth, depend on the power of the Holy Spirit, who is greater than every force in this world. And tenth, never forget that the Master is coming back.
No matter how chaotic the world may seem, this story does not end in darkness. The Lord will return. Every lie will be exposed, every evil will be judged, and every act of faithfulness will be rewarded. Those who stood firm will hear the words every believer longs to hear: Well done, good and faithful servant. Stand strong, stay ready, and keep your lamp burning, because the King is coming.
