Let Him Cook // Receipts: The Proof Is In The Fruit (Part 2) // Michael Todd
Hi, my name is Bri, and I have the privilege of serving as Chief of Staff at Transformation Church. At TC, our vision is to represent God to both the lost and found for transformation in Christ. We want to thank you for tuning in, no matter where you’re watching from. If you haven’t already, be sure to like and subscribe! We believe God has a word just for you, so let’s dive into today’s message.
Today, I want you to grab your Bibles and notepads because we are in week two of a series we’re calling “Somebody Help Me.” We’re discussing how the proof of our relationship with God is reflected in the fruit we display. I’m convinced that if churchgoers acted differently, they’d need less talk. For example, if we were already generous everywhere we went, displaying patience, joy, love, and kindness, especially when facing opposition, people would know we’ve been with God. Because in my flesh, I might want to slap you.
Now, don’t be fake with me. Some of you are like, “I didn’t say anything, but I felt that!” Yes, in my flesh, I want to revert to a nature that rejects God, but when I am led by the Spirit, the Spirit produces these kinds of fruits in our lives. Galatians 5:22 tells us about the fruit of the Spirit. Over the next several weeks, I will walk you through how to get proof of God’s presence in your life—without saying a word.
I need you to take real notes. Don’t just sit there thinking you’ve got it all figured out, because you don’t. We are all still working out our salvation until Jesus returns or until we meet Him in the sky. If you don’t approach this with humility, you may think the message is for someone else. But today, God is saying, “This message is for you. Let me refine, transform, and produce in you.” So, I want everyone’s hearts to be open today. I want you to bear more fruit, to have receipts of what God has done in your life.
Galatians 5:22 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” What this means is that there is no limit to these fruits. God won’t place a limit on your love if you allow it to erupt in you. He won’t place a limit on your peace if you let Him work that fruit in your life.
Today, I want to talk about the most important fruit: patience. Some of you wanted me to talk about love today, and I get that. But the truth is, some of you won’t allow love to take root in your hearts because it takes time to transform. We’re so eager to get to where we think we should be, but we don’t always allow God to do the work He needs to in us.
When I looked at the nine fruits of the Spirit, I asked myself: which one, if we could just get it right, would allow us to grow in all the other areas? Patience is that fruit. It’s not a quick fix from the Spirit—it takes time, watering, and cultivation. Today, I want to focus on how the fruit of patience allows us to be processed long enough to develop all the other fruits.
Patience is often the one we leave out of our prayers. If I asked, “Does anyone need more love?” most of us would say yes. If I asked for joy, everyone would say, “Yes, I’ve got that joy.” But patience? That’s the one that often eludes us. We don’t often pray, “Lord, help me with patience.” But patience is key to developing all the fruits of the Spirit.
