Why Was Jesus Born?

Let’s explore three powerful reasons why Jesus came into the world, beginning with His birth—a moment far greater than the traditions we often focus on. Millions celebrate the day but may not truly understand its significance. Here are three reasons why Jesus was born:

1. To Save Us from Our Sins

The Bible says in Matthew 1:21:
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save His people from their sins.”

Without Jesus, salvation from sin would not be possible. John 1:29 confirms this truth:
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Through His sacrifice, Jesus has removed our sins—past, present, and future. All we need to do is accept Him into our lives to receive this free gift of salvation. Remember, you don’t go to heaven because you are good, but because you believe in Jesus Christ.

2. To Redeem Us and Make Us Children of God

Galatians 4:5 teaches us:
“To redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.”

Jesus came to pay the price that sets us free from the law’s demands. Under the law, judgment, curses, and consequences awaited those who could not keep it perfectly—a task no one could achieve. Jesus redeemed us, making it possible for us to be adopted as sons and daughters of God. If you’re a woman, say, “I am a daughter of God.” If you’re a man, say, “I am a son of God.”

3. To Fulfill the Law of Moses

Jesus was born to accomplish what we could not—fulfilling the Law of Moses. The Bible tells us that breaking even one of the 613 laws meant being guilty of breaking them all. No human could meet such a standard. Jesus’ birth was necessary so He could perfectly fulfill the law on our behalf.

Through His birth and obedience, He lifted the curse and freed us from condemnation. Praise God for the gift of Jesus, who made what was impossible for us, possible through His life, death, and resurrection.
