God is calling all of us to go higher to a greater walk, greater power.
How we’re gonna take what I just said?
But now we’re gonna take the keys from those moments and now identify the keys and apply them to your life.
Let’s go back to Elisha for a second.
Now, Elijah, what’s the first thing he had to do to rise to his calling?
First thing he had to do was leave everything he knew before he’s got to leave his home, leave his family and go.
He was comfortable there and go and follow this man. The prophet Elijah. Now that is true throughout scripture.
Look at how many times God calls His people and what they have to do first is leave.
The old Abraham had to leave where he was or Moses had to leave the life.
He knew David had to leave the life.
He knew Isaiah had to Jeremiah, the apostles all had to leave the life.
They knew Paul, every single one of them, they had to leave what they were familiar with.
Now in your life, if you’re gonna go to higher ground and God, you’re gonna go up, you have to leave what’s familiar now, it’s not saying most of you are not gonna have to leave geographically.
Some of you might but you know, go on a mission if you’re a mission.
But, but it’s not that it’s that you have to leave what you’re comfortable with.
In order to find the high, the high ground, you cannot find the high ground if you stay comfortable and you cannot find the higher ground in your life.
If you stay with the old, the two disciples, they, they see Messiah in the, in the gospel of John, they say, where are you staying?
Rabbi? And he says, he doesn’t tell them.
He just says, come and you’ll see come and you will see now.
And what it means is if you’re gonna fulfill your calling and if you’re gonna move to higher ground, you have to leave what you are comfortable with your routine.
If you just stay in what you’re doing, I mean, you may have good things.
But, but, but if all you do is what you did before, you’re never gonna go higher a lifestyle.
A way of thinking. God calls us to leave the old way of thinking and attitude.
God calls us to sin. Of course, to leave that.
If we’re gonna go to higher ground, well, we get into that even an identity, who you think you are, who you, how you view yourself to leave that, to find who God called you to be.
If you wanna rise, you gotta lose that old identity.
And that means you don’t believe that anymore to find the higher ground.
If your identity is that of somebody who’s always messing up, you’re not gonna go high, you’re gonna leave that identity.
If your identity is someone who is always failing, you’re not going to fulfill that calling.
If your identity is someone who’s always on spiritual ungodly, you’re always judging yourself.
That’s, that’s if that’s what you, that’s who you are.
I mean, it, it may be the old self but it’s not who you are in God and you won’t go higher because you’re gonna be bound by that thought.
You gotta leave that. That’s not who I am. I leave that and I go with God.
What else do we see from Elisha? He’s leaving his home to go with Elijah?
Elijah is on higher ground than Elisha.
Elisha needs to be like Elijah in the mantle of the prophet to do that.
He’s gotta seek Elijah follow Elijah dwell with Elijah be with Elijah, learn of Elijah and imitate Elijah.
So would you, you need to go up so you need to be, you need to go with Him who is higher than you, you need to spend more time with Him, who is higher than you than the world?
That’s lower than you. It says lead me to the rock that is higher than I, who is higher.
God is higher Messiah is higher. You need to spend more time with Him.
If you want to go higher, you’re gonna spend more time this year with him being with him, learning of him more, knowing him, more, going with him, more, following him, more imitating him, more, loving him more, more in his presence because that’s gonna lead you higher because he’s always higher.
Now, look at Moses, what were the keys of his going up? He had to encounter God, ok?
He had to be in his presence. That’s right.
All change begins with you and God, you with God, your encounter with God. But what else?
What is the first thing that God told Moses?
He didn’t say he didn’t say, you know, Moses give them the law, give them the commandments, part the sea, the plas He didn’t say he just said take off your shoes.
What does that tell you? It has to do with the holiness of God.
It has to do with Moses knowing that God is real. God is holy, but it also reveals something else.
The calling of God to go higher involves putting away things as well.
It always involves removing something, just leaving is a form of removing something before Moses could fully rise to the calling.
He had to get rid of the sin in his own life, which wasn’t a scene of. Now.
He had, I mean, there was, he had a, he had to, now I’m not talking about the shoes right now.
I’m talking about in general, whatever he was doing, that was not God’s best. He had to put that away.
Now, for instance, he was in sin.
You know, he had, he was, it wasn’t a sin of commission, it was a sin of omission.
He had not followed the command of God, his own boys. He never circumcised them. You remember that?
And God says, OK, you’re gonna be Mose. If you don’t do it right now, you’re out, you’re, you’re gone.
He was not. So he had to get those things in his life that weren’t, that were inconsistent.
If you’re going to go higher, those things pull you down those things prevent you from what God has to find out how you can receive more of Jonathan’s teachings to receive special free gifts or get in touch.
