When God Holds What You Can’t Handle

If this were a conversation across your kitchen table this morning, I’d probably see that look in your eyes — the one that says, “I’m tired of trying to be strong.” Maybe today feels heavier than you expected. Maybe you woke up rehearsing worries about your kids, your health, your bank account, or that relationship that just won’t heal. As you read this daily devotional inspired by the heart of Lysa TerKeurst’s honest, hope-filled writing, I want you to hear this: You don’t have to hold it all together for God to hold you. He is not asking you to be unshakeable; He is inviting you to be honest, to bring your shaking heart into His steady hands and let Him carry what you can’t.

Anchored in a Promise Bigger Than Our Feelings

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14, NIV)
God spoke this to His people when the Red Sea was in front of them and their enemies were behind them. They had no plan, no escape route, no visible solution. Maybe that’s where you are today — boxed in by circumstances and emotions. This verse doesn’t say, “The Lord might consider fighting for you,” but “The LORD will fight for you.” Being still here doesn’t mean doing nothing; it means refusing to let fear be your loudest voice. It means pausing long enough to remember that the God who parts seas is the same God who steps into your Mondays, your doctor’s appointments, your bills, and your breaking heart.

Learning to Breathe Again in the Middle of the Battle

Trusting God isn’t pretending you’re fine. It’s choosing to bring your not-fine to Him first. Today, when anxiety starts scripting the worst-case scenario, pause and whisper, “Lord, You fight for me.” When you’re tempted to control every outcome, open your hands and say, “Jesus, I release what I can’t fix.” You might need to do this a dozen times before lunch, and that’s okay. Spiritual growth is often a series of small, surrendered decisions. Put a verse on your phone lock screen. Step outside for five minutes and breathe a simple prayer. Talk to God while you’re driving instead of replaying that hurtful conversation. Let your ordinary moments become a steady rhythm of returning your heart to the One who never gets tired of hearing your voice.

Drawing Near in Faith When You Feel Far Away

Father, grow my faith where it feels fragile. When my mind races, help me remember that You are not overwhelmed by what overwhelms me. Teach me to trust Your timing, even when I only see delays. Soften the hard places in my heart that doubt Your goodness because of what I’ve walked through. Today, I invite You into my questions, my disappointments, and my hopes. Strengthen my desire to seek You in Your Word. Let my faith be less about feelings that rise and fall and more about a deep confidence in who You are — faithful, kind, powerful, and near. Make my life a quiet testimony that even in the stretching and the waiting, You are writing a story of redemption and growth.

Inviting God Into Our Homes and Relationships

Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. Step into every room of our home with Your peace. Heal unspoken hurts, break patterns of hurtful words, and soften hearts that have grown guarded. Restore conversations between parents and children, spouses, siblings, and friends. Where there has been misunderstanding, bring clarity. Where there has been distance, create safe paths back to one another. Cover our marriages and friendships with grace and forgiveness. Teach us to listen before reacting and to bless instead of blame. Let our homes become places where Your presence is felt — in laughter around the table, in quiet late-night talks, and even in the hard discussions that lead us toward healing and unity.

Health, Strength, and the Gentle Healing of God

Jesus, You know every ache, diagnosis, and hidden fear about our bodies and our minds. I bring my health before You — the fatigue I push through, the pain I minimize, the emotions I try to bury. Touch every part of me that needs Your healing, whether physical, emotional, or mental. Give wisdom to doctors, counselors, and caregivers. Strengthen my immune system, steady my heart, calm my nervous thoughts. When I feel weak, remind me that Your power is made perfect in weakness. Help me care well for the body You
