Kent Christmas – Daily Devotional for October 12, 2026
If your heart feels a little weary today, you’re not alone. Many believers across the United States are waking up this morning with questions about the future, concern for their families, and a deep longing to see God move in a fresh way. This devotional is for you. On this October 12, 2026, the Lord is inviting you to pause, breathe, and remember that He has not abandoned His promises over your life, your home, or this nation. As you read and pray, let hope rise again. The same God who spoke through His servants in every generation is still speaking peace into your storm and strength into your weakness right now.
A Word in Due Season
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV)
In a world where everything shifts—politics, culture, even circumstances in the Church—this verse anchors us. The Jesus who healed the sick, comforted the broken, confronted darkness, and restored hope has not changed. He is steady when everything else feels fragile. Today, let this truth quiet the noise in your mind: if Jesus has ever been faithful, He will be faithful to you again. His character doesn’t bend under pressure, and His promises do not run out with time. What He has whispered over your life is still alive in His heart.
Living With Expectant Faith
God is calling His people to move from survival-mode faith into expectant faith. Instead of waking up dreading what might go wrong, He invites you to start the day asking, “Lord, what are You going to do in and through me today?” Expectant faith shows up in simple choices: opening your Bible before scrolling your phone, blessing your workplace when you walk in, choosing forgiveness when you’d rather hold a grudge, and thanking God in advance for answers you haven’t seen yet. As you do, your heart slowly shifts from fear to trust. You become more aware of God’s presence in the ordinary routines—commuting, parenting, paying bills, caring for aging parents—because you’ve decided to believe He’s active in every detail.
Drawing Near in Trust
Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring my faith before You today. I confess that sometimes I doubt, I worry, and I try to figure everything out on my own. Yet Your Word declares that You remain the same, unshaken by my circumstances. Strengthen my faith so that I lean on You, not on my own understanding. Teach me to trust Your timing, even when doors seem closed or prayers seem delayed. Holy Spirit, deepen my hunger for Your presence. Let my faith not be built on emotion or headlines but on Your unchanging Word. Grow in me a steady, resilient confidence that You are working all things together for my good and for Your glory.
Grace Over Our Homes
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. Cover my home with Your peace and drive out every spirit of strife, confusion, and fear. Heal broken communication between husbands and wives, parents and children, siblings and relatives. Let forgiveness flow where offense has taken root. I pray protection over my children and grandchildren—guard their minds, friendships, and futures. May our homes be places where Your name is honored, Your Word is read, and Your love is felt. Restore what the enemy has tried to steal from our families, and let unity, respect, and tenderness return in Jesus’ name.
Healing for Body and Soul
Heavenly Father, You are Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. I bring my body, my mind, and my emotions before You. For every sickness, pain, and diagnosis, I declare that Jesus carried my infirmities at the cross. Touch those dealing with chronic conditions, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and hidden battles no one else sees. Release Your healing power over every cell, every system, and every thought. Grant wisdom to doctors and caregivers, but let Your hand be the final word. Calm racing thoughts, lift heaviness, and replace fear with a deep, settled peace. Strengthen us to honor You with our bodies and to steward our health as a gift from Your hand.
Provision in the Everyday
Lord, I surrender my work, career, and finances to You. You see the pressure of rising costs, uncertain jobs, and financial burdens. I ask for doors of opportunity that no one can shut. Give me favor with employers, clients, and coworkers. Teach
