Jonathan Cahn On Whether The Rapture Will Happen On The Feast Of Trumpets

With the idea going viral that the Rapture will take place on the Feast of Trumpets this year, Jonathan Cahn was asked to give his response. What does he think? Will it happen this September?

This is Jonathan Cahn, and I’ve been asked to respond to a message that has been going viral—the claim that the rapture will take place this coming September 2025, on Rosh Hashanah.

So, what do I think about it? Let’s look at a few important things.

Could the Rapture Be Connected to the Feast of Trumpets?

The question is: will the rapture or the return of the Messiah be connected to the Feast of Trumpets? The answer is that there is a real possibility.

When you study the first coming of Jesus, the greatest events all took place on biblical Jewish holy days:

  • The death of the Messiah: Jesus, the Lamb of God, gave His life on Passover, the day of the Passover lamb.

  • The resurrection: He rose on the Feast of Firstfruits, becoming the “first fruits” of life from the dead.

  • Pentecost: Fifty days later, on the Feast of Shavuot (Pentecost), the Holy Spirit came, again on a biblical Jewish holiday.

All of these world-changing events happened on appointed holy days. That was the first coming.

Now, when you look at the second half of the biblical calendar—the fall feasts—they are all linked to the themes of the second coming and the Kingdom of God.

  • The Feast of Trumpets speaks of the sounding of the shofar, announcing the coming of the Lord.

  • The Day of Atonement speaks of standing before God in judgment and salvation.

  • The Feast of Tabernacles points to the celebration of God’s Kingdom on earth and the joy of eternity.

This pattern is powerful. It all lines up with prophecy.

The Feast of Trumpets and the Sound of the Shofar

The Feast of Trumpets is all about the blowing of the trumpet. And when you read the Bible, the coming of the Lord is described with the sound of trumpets.

  • “The Lord will come with the sound of the trumpet.”

  • “The dead in Christ will rise at the last trumpet.”

  • In Revelation, seven angels sound their trumpets, and when the seventh trumpet sounds, the mystery of God is completed.

So yes, there is a strong biblical connection between the rapture, the second coming, and the Feast of Trumpets. It makes sense that such events could be linked to this holy day.

A Word of Caution: Do Not Set Dates

But with all of that said, we must be careful. The Bible is very clear: we do not know the day or the hour. Be very careful about date-setting.

If someone says, “It has to happen this September,” and it doesn’t happen, it brings disrepute to the message of the Gospel. Over the years, there have been fake videos with my name claiming I predicted certain dates. I have never done that—unless the Lord Himself told me directly, I will not.
