Christ Above Politics: Where Should Our Allegiance Lie?
First and foremost, it’s critical to clarify that commitment to Christ supersedes allegiance to any political party. While it’s common for some to identify strongly as Republican or Democrat, for followers of Jesus, our true identity is “Christian.” Political parties are constantly in flux, and their platforms sometimes align more closely, or less, with God’s standards at different points in history. Presently, many Christians find that conservative policies tend to reflect scriptural values more than what we see on the progressive side of the aisle. However, the call isn’t to pledge blind loyalty to a party, but to consistently evaluate where Scripture and policy diverge or converge.
How Far We’ve Drifted: Departing from Founding Values
Many prominent figures from America’s past including Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy would hardly recognize their party today. The moral underpinnings that once guided much of American political discourse have shifted dramatically, with many policies now in stark opposition to biblical principles. This shift isn’t just about party politics it is symptomatic of a deeper cultural divide in which longstanding values like truth, justice, and the sanctity of life have been replaced by relativism and moral ambiguity.
The reality is that, for some, political decisions are often driven more by personal frustrations or animosity than by sound principles or Scriptural grounding. As Christians, we must rise above personality politics and measure every social or legislative change against God’s eternal Word.
Socialism and Scripture: Why Covetousness Is Not Compassion
Socialism, in its various modern incarnations, is championed by many as the answer to inequality and poverty. But looking at Scripture, we see a vastly different perspective. The Bible warns clearly against coveting what belongs to someone else. Socialism, at its core, is built on the desire to redistribute what others have earned, often at the expense of personal responsibility and initiative. The Tenth Commandment says, “You shall not covet,” and Paul reminds us in Colossians that covetousness is a form of idolatry.
While Christians are called to generosity, charity, and sharing, Scripture also says in 2 Thessalonians, “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” Compassion does not mean enabling laziness or perpetuating cycles of dependency that undermine human dignity and responsibility. God’s design is that we thrive through stewardship, not by forcibly taking from others.

John Adams, America’s second president, warned that, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” When a people abandon shared moral boundaries, external control inevitably rises whether through government overreach or social chaos.
Abortion: Life Is Sacred from the Womb
One of the central battlegrounds of our time is the question of abortion. While political debate rages over “women’s health” and “privacy,” Scripture is unequivocal: life is a divine gift, precious from the moment of conception. John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit while still in the womb; Psalm 139 declares that God knits each person together in their mother’s womb and ordains every day of their life before a single breath is drawn.
The tragic reality is that policies supporting abortion up to, and even after, birth are being advanced in legislative halls today. Despite attempts to reframe abortion as private medicine, Scripture and the evidence of biology affirm that every unborn child is a distinct individual created by God. Christians are called not only to oppose such injustice but to advocate for vulnerable lives with truth and compassion. The normalization of chemical abortions, and legislative attempts to strip even minimal protections for the unborn, is not merely a political inclination it is a spiritual crisis.
Furthermore, the side effects of widespread chemical abortions are beginning to surface not only for women but with the contamination of our water and declining fertility rates. These are not isolated issues; they reveal deeper societal disregard for the gift of life and the creative order God established.
Gender Ideology: Upholding What God Has Made
The explosion of gender ideology and legislation permitting irreversible medical intervention on children is a direct challenge to God’s creative intent. Scripture testifies, “God created them male and female.” The movement to erase distinctions between the sexes, to allow anyone to access any restroom or sports team, or to medically transition minors, violates both science and revealed truth. New laws not only promote these changes but often criminalize attempts to counsel people toward biblical sexuality, eliminating the freedom to even speak God’s truth into gender confusion
