Alistair Begg Daily Devotional – October 21, 2026: Steady in the Storm

If your heart feels a little unsteady today, you are not alone. Many believers quietly carry the weight of uncertainty—about health, about bills, about children or aging parents, about the future of our nation. Yet in all of this, God has not stepped off His throne. As Alistair Begg so often reminds his listeners, our confidence does not rest in our circumstances but in the character of God revealed in Jesus Christ. Today, the Lord invites you to bring your questions, your fears, and your weary soul to Him and to discover again that His grace truly is sufficient for you, right where you are, on this very day.

Anchored by a Unshakable Promise

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV)
When everything around us keeps changing, this verse stands like a lighthouse in a swirling storm. Your emotions may roller-coaster. The culture may shift. Relationships may strain. But Jesus does not change. The same Savior who loved you enough to go to the cross, who rose from the grave in power, and who intercedes for you right now at the Father’s right hand has not altered His mind about you. His love remains constant; His mercy remains fresh; His power remains undiminished. Hebrews 13:8 is not just a theological statement—it is a daily lifeline. You can step into this day confident that nothing you face will surprise the One who holds you, and nothing you carry is beyond His ability to redeem.

Walking by Faith in the Ordinary Moments

Most days don’t feel dramatic; they feel ordinary—commutes, emails, lunches, laundry, homework, difficult conversations, and unending to-do lists. Yet faith is refined in these very places. Trust in God grows as you choose to remember His promises in the quiet moments when no one else is watching. When anxiety knocks, you can whisper, “Lord, You are the same today as You were when You split the Red Sea and calmed the storm. Help me trust You now.” When disappointment hits, you can ask, “Father, how do You want to shape my character through this?” As you continually turn to Christ in the ordinary, the Holy Spirit uses each situation to deepen your roots, making you a steady, hopeful presence in a world starving for peace.

Strengthened in Faith and Spiritual Growth

Father, in Jesus’ name, strengthen my faith today. Tear down every lie that tells me You have forgotten me. Teach me to cling to Your Word when my feelings shout a different story. Grow in me a deeper love for Scripture, a quicker instinct to pray, and a humble heart that listens for Your voice. Where my faith is fragile, hold me firm. Where my heart has grown cold, rekindle fresh affection for Christ. Make me more like Jesus in my thoughts, my words, and my decisions. Let Your Spirit produce in me the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control as I walk with You today.

Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace

Lord, I bring my family and loved ones before You. You see every hidden tension, every unspoken worry, every silent ache. Bring Your peace into our home. Heal strained relationships. Soften hard hearts. Teach us to speak truth with grace and to forgive quickly. Protect our marriages, restore what has been broken, and guard our children from the enemy’s lies. Let our homes be places where Your presence is felt—where laughter is shared, tears are comforted, and Your name is honored. Surround our loved ones with wise influences and godly friendships that point them closer to You.

Health, Healing, and Inner Renewal

Gracious Healer, I lift my body, mind, and emotions to You. For every pain, symptom, and diagnosis, I ask for Your healing touch. Strengthen weary bodies, calm racing hearts, and steady troubled minds. Replace fear with assurance that my life is held securely in Your hands. For the emotional wounds no one sees—grief, disappointment, trauma, and loss—bring deep, restoring comfort. Teach me to care for this body You have given me with wisdom and gratitude, knowing that even in weakness Your power is made perfect. Let my health, in whatever condition, become a platform from which Your grace is clearly seen.
