We are the Almah | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
We are the Almah
The Substance of Heaven
In the Temple of God were symbols, mysteries, and elements. One particular element reveals the nature of God, and the nature we are to live by. One runs counter to our culture and world.
Now in the Hebrew marriage, remember the bride groom must visit the bride, so God must visit the earth.
But that’s another story. Sometimes the bride groom would send a messenger.
He sometimes the bride groom couldn’t go himself. And he sent a mess.
For instance, when Isaac was gonna be married, what happened?
He didn’t go, he didn’t go across to Mesopotamia to Syria.
There, Abraham sent a messenger representing Isaac and Abraham remember and that Jesus, he’s the one who goes and says, Lord, if this is the one.
So Luke one, it says this verse 26.
Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin troll to a man whose name was Joseph, one of the descendants of David house of David.
And the virgin’s name was Miriam Mary.
So this is how God is now sending a representative here, a representative to the bride.
And he says, because even though you know Mary is gonna be married to Joseph, there’s something bigger happening here.
God is also going to be God is the bride groom of Israel and he’s also the bride groom of all who receive him.
And so here now he says, basically, this is what’s gonna happen.
The spirit of God is gonna come upon the Alma, the virgin and the virgin is going to conceive the spirit of the bride, groom God and man together God and a woman together.
This is a union of the spirit.
So she’s untouched by Matt in the Hebrew wedding, the and the the bride room and the Alma, the virgin.
Here they come together. Now, why God in the Hebrew scriptures, he often he will call Israel.
So he’ll call Israel, not just my bride and of course, the church is the bride, but he will call so Israel virgin, virgin, daughter of Israel, virgin virgin is a way of saying or, or is saying that, you know, it’s pure like I’m taking you as if everything was new.
I’m renewing everything but also the word virgin or in Hebrew remember means one who is hidden and separated and veiled and veiled.
So it’s it, it’s a good thing in, in one sense.
But it could also mean, you know, Israel was meant to be married to God, but Israel was also veiled to God.
Israel was also hidden, kept to from God in many ways.
It was, it was God who wanted to join God who’s wanted, it was Israel that have these.
But it’s bigger than that because Israel represents everybody.
All of mankind, all of humanity is like the alma because we are veiled from God.
All creation was made to be joined to God.
But it’s all become veiled to God and separated from God and hidden from God.
What happened when it happened in the Garden of Eden? It wasn’t God who separated himself from man.
It was man who separated himself from God.
And what happened, man hid himself became hidden, covered himself up.
And so Israel also was in think about the tent of meeting when God built the tent.
So so God so they can come together with His, with his people, the Tabernacle, what was it characterized by veils, veils of separation, veils in the courtyard, veil in the holy place, veil to the holy of Holies, veils, veils veil, but also a bride has a veil.
So we veiled because Israel was like it was a veiled bride, a veil from God.
You know, it says in the book of Hebrews, there’s a veil on the nation of Israel says, but when it, when someone looks to God, the veil gets removed, there’s a veil and there’s a veil to all.
Ever since the fall of man veil, we’re separated.
