There are believers who know the story of the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary and when the angel says, “Hail Mary full of grace,” they think of liturgy, as in the “Hail Mary.” But back then it wasn’t liturgy or a ritual, it was just an angel greeting Mary. He probably said, “Shalom Miriam.” Here’s the problem. We often take the things of God, things of real life and take them out of life and make them religious, so they don’t apply to our lives anymore. For the people in the Bible, it wasn’t a religious book, it was life itself. It’s not a religious part of life. It’s not two different spheres, one way in church and another way at home. Messiah is God. He came down to touch every part of your life, from mowing the lawn to taking out the garbage, doing whatever it is. For Mary, there was no Hail Mary. It was simply, Yeshua; Jesus coming into her life. Let God become real to you, the same way, in every part of your life. It’s not religious, it’s life. It’s as simple as saying “Hail Mary.”
From Message #511 – Treasures in Heaven
So what is baptism? The Greek word is that you see in the in the Greek Bible is baptizedo.
That’s the root, and we get baptism or baptismos. That what does it mean?
It means to submerge I know, you know, there are some denominations that sprinkle, whatever, but it baptized means submerged to go under to be welmed over to be overwhelmed.
When you’re baptized in water, you’re baptized in the name of Messiah, because spiritually, it’s about your new life.
You are baptized. When you were born again, you are immersed in Messiah himself.
You’re you are submerged into his name, in his eye to his identity, into his life, into his nature.
You and him are one. Your life is now covered over by his life.
Your sins are covered over by his righteousness. Your life is in his life. You’re in his identity.
But it’s gotta be a complete subversion.
Sometimes when we baptize someone, especially like a really big person, and we go down. Sometimes it doesn’t go down.
They don’t go down all the way.
And like we feel like, okay, we gotta keep pushing them down to get them covered to make a great well, there’s a power of in covering, submerging every part of your life into him.
Bapto means means submerged completely covered. In leviticus, it talks about the day that the leper is cleansed.
And they do a a fascinating right. They take they have two birds One bird is sacrificed or killed.
The blood is dripped in a running water.
And then the second bird is dipped into the blood and water of the first bird. It is dip.
The Hebrew word is tevila that’s translated into Greek as baptized.
The bird is baptized in the blood of the other. And that what a picture of us and Messiah.
And then it goes and it’s flying away and the blood is bringing its free after it’s baptized.
Well, the same way we are submerged in the life of Messiah.
But you can’t leave any part out when the Hebrews went through the Red Sea, the pharaoh didn’t see them anymore that closed and that was it until the other side.
So whatever is baptized, you know, if if there’s a part that you don’t submerge of your life, you don’t let you don’t put it into Messiah that is vulnerable to the enemy, vulnerable to pharaoh.
If you leave a part out, the enemy can have his way over that part.
But when you submerge, bring everything into the will of god, the life of god, the life of Messiah, The enemy has no power over it when you surrender it to him.
What does it mean? You are to submerge or to baptize your ego, your pride, your your sin, everything.
Bring it in. Don’t hold anything back. Some people are ashamed of things and they don’t give it to god.
That’s the worst thing you could do. Bring it to god. He wants it. Submerge it. You’re ashamed.
Whatever you’re dealing with in your life, put it in. Your burden, put it in. Hi.
