The Nehemiah Secrets of Building God’s Kingdom and Restoring Lives | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The Nehemiah Secrets of Building God’s Kingdom and Restoring Lives
Jonathan Cahn share the Nehemiah Secrets of Building God’s Kingdom and Restoring Lives. One of the most overlooked and least understood heroes of the Bible is Nehemiah. It is Nehemiah who holds the key to fulfilling what God has called you to do and become, no matter what for God’s Kingdom.
You must be building the kingdom in some way. That means you’re gonna be building up.
Your life is gonna be tearing down. Things have got It’s to be building up.
That means you’re to be building up people, repairing lives, restoring.
Walk in a manner worthy of a high calling.
The holy calling and a high calling is on your life.
The calling of your life is high, good, and holy. Will you fulfill that calling? Well, that’s the question.
Yes. You might think god, because god gave it, It will be fulfilled, not necessarily. God called you.
He didn’t call himself. He called you. He can’t fulfill your calling.
He can give you the power and the will to fulfill it. If you let him do it, yes.
But that’s your choice. Every calling will have challenges.
Every calling because there is also an enemy who goes against the purposes and callings of god.
That means in your life. Every calling will have challenges in this world. Apathy discouragements, defeats warfare.
How can you ensure that you’re going to fulfill the calling that god gave you?
For that, we’re gonna look at a man who was called by god to fulfill a great and prophetic mission, the finishing and rebuilding of Jerusalem, which had to be accomplished so that Messiah could come so that you could be saved.
And yet there were so many obstacles in this man’s law, in this calling, so much resistance attacks And yet the way he handled them is gonna provide an awesome, totally, effective keys, practical, spiritual, powerful, for you to apply in your calling in your life.
His name meant the consolation of god. Could say the encouragement, the consolation of god.
He was called to go back to the the the exiles of Israel who were in exile.
They came to Jerusalem. They were being discouraged, trying to fulfill god’s will, and rebuild Jerusalem.
He was called to go back. The in Hebrew, the word consolation or comfort is the word Nacham, try it.
We would say Naham, like the the prophet Naham, Nacham, and the lord, one of the names of the lord, is yahweh or yeah, yeah, easy name.
Yeah. Nuham, the comfort of god of the lord. Nuham, Yeah. Nehemiah. Nehemiah.
Nehemiah, the comfort of god. Nehemiah. Nehemiah was one of the exiles of Judah in Babylon.
He lived now the persians took over. He’s in the Persian empire.
He became the cup bearer, Jewish cup bearer of the King Arteserks, he’s the 1st Persian king.
Now, the cup bearer had a great position, high position.
He was entrusted to pouring out the drinks at the royal table to ensure against assassination, somebody poisoning the cup of the king.
Sometimes he’d be required to take it himself.
But that means the Amaya was greatly trusted by the king of the Persian empire, and he was close to the king.
He would have influence on the king.
Now when he heard, Nehemiah heard a report that the walls of Jerusalem had been broken down, and it was not happening what god had purposed.
He was grieved. And the king noticed it, and this is nehemiah 2.
If you hope if you have your bibles, nehemiah 2, verse 3.
And I said to the king, because the king wants to know why are you upset?
May the king live forever? Why should my face not be sad when the city The sight of my father’s tombs is desolate.
Its gates have been consumed by fire. Then the king said to me, what would you request?
So I prayed to the god of heaven, then I said to the king, if it pleases the king, and if your servant is found favor before you, I request send me to Judah to the city among my father’s tombs that I might rebuild it, then the king said to me, with the queen sitting beside beside him, how long will your journey be, and when will you return?
Meeamiyah gets permission from the emperor of Persia. It’s very big to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
And to be governor also over the people.
It’s a year is around 4 68 BC when he when he returned to Jerusalem.
It’s 20 years after Ezra did to Es returned to minister to the people in their restoration.
Now let’s look at the keys of nehemiah. And there’s more than we could do tonight.
This will be the beginning. The book of nehemiah is a book of Jewish people doing building work, construction.
People are already laughing.
The Jewish people are not mostly known for doing building work or construction are being mechanically inclined.
I can be the first to attest to it. Recently, my car battery died.
And I went to the store and bought the new battery.
And I told my wife Renata, I’m gonna replace the car battery. She said, what? You You’ll hurt yourself.
Get it professional, but I was determined I went outside, went to the garage, got on gloves, surgical masks, Very carefully began to unscrew the screws around the battery casing while trying to remember everything I did so I can put it back when I was did it.
I took the old battery out, I put the new battery in, tightened all the screws, went into my car, big moment, turned on the key.
It started. Yes. This was a big moment, but I went upstairs to my wife.
I said, sweetie, should you ask us? I may not be Jewish. She said, what?
I said, I changed the car battery successfully. It started up.
I said I might have been a fake Jew all my life. My whole self image.
I said, I gotta get tested. Ancestry.com. You know, people go for COVID. I’m going I gotta get tested.
As you gotta call 911. Say, what’s what’s wrong? I changed the car battery. What’s that?
But just just there’s no time. Send an ambulance, I I have to tested, I might not be Jewish.
Well, back then, that’s today. Back then, Jewish people did building because god told them to build.
You may not relate to building. I don’t, but every child of god is called to build.
You see in Hebrew, the word for child, which you are child of god, is is Ben or Banah, Ben.
And from that word, you have Banah, which means to build a child or son or daughter is one who builds the house.
That’s where it’s linked to. So if you’re a child of god, you must be building the kingdom in some way.
That means you’re gonna be building up. Your life is gonna be tearing down things of god.
It’s to be building up That means you’re to be building up people, repairing lives, restoring, healing, in some way, your life is to be a a building up the impact of your life is to be repairer, building life and the kingdom of god.
Your calling is not about making money or being successful in a career.
God may do that, but that’s not what it’s about.
Your calling is to build up the kingdom of god and the purposes of god. Bring life.
Ask yourself, is my life truly building his kingdom, or is my life truly bringing redemption around me?
Am I bringing life around me? If not, You gotta seek the lord because your life must do that.
If you’re just living for yourself, you’re not fulfilling that calling.
Saying, lord, what truly is my calling because your life is on earth without calling.
How come my life, everything I have, everything I am, build up your kingdom.
How can all I have be used to fulfill your purposes? That’s what you have to ask god.
And then say, okay, lord, then use me now.
Next thing, Bukom Nehemiah begins with Nehemiah seeking to do the will of god, which was to rebuild Jerusalem.
Now we we we don’t know that angel came to him. We don’t know that a prophet came to him.
We don’t know what sign was given to him. What we know is the Amaya knew the will of god.
From the word of god and thus committed himself to fulfilling it.
So with you, the first thing you need to do in your life, make sure you’re in the will of god, because if you’re not in the will of god, you can’t talk about fulfilling your calling or being blessed.
Make sure you’re in the will of god.
Now god can use supernatural means such as words and dreams and prophetic words as well, visions.
But with or without them, you already have to begin the will of god. You have it here.
Start with this. What is the will of god for your life? It’s here.
It may not be specific tell you exact, but it’s gonna be it’s gonna tell you what you need to go start moving in the will of god, and that will lead to the fulfilling of your calling.
Get your life inside of this. Get your life in the will of god.
Whatever is not in the will of god, get it out.
Whatever whatever’s not, get it into the will of whatever should not be in the will of god in your life, get it out of your life.
God, get yourself positioned inside the will of god.
Before you do anything, before you embark on something new, did you pray and ask lord?
Before you made that decision, lord, you said, your will. Make sure it is.
Because if not, you could be going way off. Ask lord, is this your will?
Does it go with the word of god? Do I have the peace of god?
Do I have the counsel god? Do I have the confirmation of god?
Do I have the fruit of god in this?
If so, go for it with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Next key would be nehemiah.
That’s what nehemiah did. Nehemiah had a mission. He went forward to Israel Jerusalem with a in.
He’s a man on a mission. He wasn’t just going on an endeavor and enterprise, something he wanted to do.
He had a mission, and that was crucial in his success. You too have a mission.
And the word mission gets you get the word missionary. You’re a missionary.
You might say, well, I’m not a missionary.
Someone who goes to a foreign land away from her her his or her home there, but I’ve never gone any foreign land.
I’m still at home. Wait a minute. The Bible says you’re not at home.
The Bible says you are not of this world. The Bible says you are of heaven, not earth.
That means you are on earth means earth is one big colossal mission field.
You’re a missionary, and this is your mission field. This is not your home.
If your home, it’s not your mission field. If it’s your mission field, it’s not your home.
So the first thing you’re not on this planet to hang out or to get more things.
You’re on the earth as a mission.
In order to live a life on a mission, you have to remind yourself every day, this is not my home.
I am a child of heaven. I’m a citizen of heaven. I have a mission here every day.
You need to live your life as someone every day you wake up.
Lord, what is my and I have a large mission, and what’s my mission today? I have a purpose.
I have something to accomplish. I I have to leave this better than I found it.
I have to bless people more than who weren’t blessed without my life.
When you wake up in the morning, lord, you’re you’re you’re time’s not all lord.
Help me get through this day. It’s, lord, I have a mission. That totally changes the way you see things.
Deal with things that way because if you’re focused on your mission, you’re not gonna be focused on your problems anymore.
That’s gonna be just an obstacle, but I’ve got a purpose. I’m moving ahead with this.
That means you’re not gonna live reacting to everything. You’re living to act upon the world.
That’s a whole different way of living. Proactively, I have a mission. I’m a light to the world.
Another key connected to mission, but a little different, the EMI didn’t just come to Jerusalem he was sent to Jerusalem.
Ultimately, he was sent by god, but he was sent by the king and by god.
You too are sent. Messiah said the father as he sent me, I send you.
So you are to live a sent life.
Live each day, not just one who’s here, but one who is sent. Apply that to every situation.
I’m not just in my situation. Think about this, how this will change everything. I’m not just in my situation.
I am sent into my situation. Hold everything. I’m not just in my home, my family.
I am sent to them. I’m not just at this gathering of relatives and the things happen.
I am sent to this gathering. I’m not even in this problem. I’m not simply in this problem.
I am sent to the problem. It’s a whole different way of living.
Your attitude in life should be on a mission from god.
That wasn’t just for the blues brothers That’s for you as a child of god.
This will change the way you see everything and act upon everything if you’re sent You’re not of.
You’re not bound by. You’re not overcome by. You’re not mastered by. You are sent to.
You are of him who sent you. Nehemiah was sent by the king.
You are also sent by the king to if you will be sent, you are sent by the king.
That’s a royal mission. He had one you have one. That gives you authority.
If you’re in the will of god, you have authority.
If you’re you’re authority and you have sovereignty because I’m following god. I’m I have an order from god.
I have authority. Even if the world goes again, I have a greater authority.
Nehemiah knew his calling, and that’s what kept him.
No matter what’s gonna come his way, it is crucial that you know you’re called and know your calling.
You don’t have to know everything about it, but you gotta know I’m called, and I have this mission.
And you know what I’m saying. Look at the life of Paul. Look at all he went through.
Beatings, persecution, imprisonment, opposition. Do you think he would have held up and kept going and overcome if he didn’t know he was called?
He didn’t know his calling. He didn’t remind himself. Oh, damn, god.
You called me to the nations to kings to the Jew and the Gentile.
Nothing could stop Paul because he knew his mission.
You need to know you’re calling because when you come up against opposition, which you will, as Nehemiah did, it’ll keep you strong.
It’ll keep you going because the calling of god is bigger than any opposition that’s gonna come.
It goes on. EMIO 218. He says, I told them when he comes back to them.
He said, I told them in Jerusalem of the gracious hand of god on my upon me and what the king had said to me.
They replied, let us start rebuilding. So they began this good work.
So they he tells them god is on this, and they believe that.
And that’s and so they say, well, let’s go then.
Now if you know something is god’s will, don’t just sit there. Go with it.
God speaks to you here. If he speaks to you during the service, don’t just hear it.
Let it be make it become action in some ways.
Gotta be to be real, it’s gotta become action in some way. You can’t just hear it and say, okay.
That was nice. Make it action, and it becomes part of your life forever. And it changes you.
In one way, it becomes light. Faith without works is dead. Without action is dead.
A calling without action is a dead calling. You got his leading. He’s leading you, encouraging you, convicting you.
What are you waiting for? Go with that.
You can have the greatest calling in the world, but if you don’t start, it’s not gonna happen.
The greatest calling There are believers who have all the ingredients to do great things, but they never do.
And and we, ourselves, sometimes we’re the ones who are putting off our calling.
You ever have to do something.
You have something like you have to do some assignment, and you keep on finding distractions to kind of postpone it.
Well, I have to do a report. Well, I can’t have pencils not sharp enough. Uh, this is not right.
Let me work on this first. I said and just do it. God said something. Don’t put it off.
If, you know, you you’re tempted to sin, put that off. But god tells you something. Don’t put it off.
Stop delaying it. Stop it. Just do it.
Even if it’s a little step, A little step is bet of some even a a little step of something is much greater than a big thing that you never do.
Take a little step tonight. Today.
Take one here and now, and you will already get momentum to do the rest.
Now at the very the very very next verse, they say, okay. We’re gonna do it.
Let’s do this great thing. Next verse, but when San Ballet, the Hor Horonite, and Tabaya, the ammonite official, and Gesham the Arab heard about it.
They mocked us and despise us and said, what is this thing you’re doing? Are you rebelling against the cane?
Now notice they just said, Let’s do it. Let’s do this great work.
Then comes San Balat, Tabaya, Gesham, who mock them despise them and come against what they mean.
They’re gonna come against this work. There is an enemy.
As god will encourage you and empower you to do his will and fulfill your calling, the enemy will always seek to stop you from doing god’s will, stop you from doing god’s calling, stop you from repenting, stop from doing that good thing in your life hinder that discourage you, and often he tries to do it before it happens.
Often he tries to discourage you, stop you preempt you, before the thing when he knows something is planned for something of god, he’ll try to stop it.
Just like, listen, he tried to kill Moses when he was a baby.
Try to kill messiah when he was a baby, threw in his wrench at mankind in the beginning in the garden.
That’s what he does. So, you know, so don’t be surprised if you’re getting resistance and you’re getting attack and it’s going crazy.
If you’re not getting any attack or any resistance, you might not be in god’s will.
You know, people think that if it’s god’s will, everything’s gotta go. That that that, yeah, look at Paul.
Look at the people of god. No. No.
God will will incur will give you the power to overcome it but don’t say there’s no fight.
It’s not a bad sign. God’s with you.
If you’re if you’re in god’s will and all hell is attacking you, be blessed, rejoice, and leave for joy.
It’s telling you god has something big for your life. Go for it. Don’t stop.
The enemy will do everything he can to stop you. Go forward all the more.
If you stop, you’re encouraging him. He can’t stop you unless you stop you.
Now look at how Nehemiah responds to this at the first attack. Verse 20.
So I answered them and said to them, the god of heaven will make us successful.
Therefore, we, his servants will arise and build, but, you know, you have no part.
Right or memorial in Jerusalem.
He responds, not by focusing on their attack, he responds by Ria firming the call of god on his life and on Jerusalem.
When the enemy attacks, no matter how it comes, you have to respond by reaffirming the will of god, the word of god, and the calling of god in your life.
Don’t focus on the attack or the problem.
You’re aware of it, but get right back to the call of god.
And the will of god notice was beginning his ministry. What happened?
The enemy attacked to try to stop the ministry.
Messiah responded not by saying, you know, I well, you’re a jerk where you’re saying this.
He didn’t do that. He didn’t focus on notice.
You know, the enemy goes and he just goes right back to the word of god.
He said, but it is written. That man shall not live by bread alone. It is written.
You shall worship god always. You shall not test the lord. He go it is written.
He goes right back to the word of god. You do the same.
I open up by saying that every one of you has a calling.
Nehemiah is the account of a man with a calling Nehemiah didn’t make up his calling.
God gave it to him. Planted from the foundation of the world. Same with your life.
You didn’t come up with it. God came up with your calling from the foundation of the world.
It could only come true when you came to him when you were born again.
But but you you have to be part of that.
And and, nehemiah, until you’re coming born again, that’s the beginning of it.
Nehemiah is as a man who had a calling, had everything go against it, but he kept going, and he finished the course.
Your calling is given to you by god.
So it’s not something that you naturally would know, but it’s something you seek for. You discover. You find.
It’s revealed. And you say yes to it. And with god’s power, you begin rising to it.
If you ask me growing up, what was my calling? I would have no idea.
I could only know once I came to the lord. Same with you. And some still see.
I gave my life to his purposes, and then it started unfolding step by step. Just by following god.
All I had to do was follow what I knew, he took me to what I didn’t know because it’s there.
Even if you know a little bit, take the step on a little bit, it goes a lot farther than not taking a step on a lot.
That’s all you have to do. Paul just had to go to Damascus.
Straight street, and Elias just had to go to Paul. They didn’t have to know everything.
If you know even one step of god’s will, take it. Because it’s gonna lead you to the next step.
And the next blessing, and the more you know, the more you have to choose, surrender to it, go with it, say yes, lord.
And having a calling like Nehemiah, you have to value it. You have to treasure it. Guard it.
Whatever would take you away, slow you down, delay you, endanger it, put it out of your life.
Not worth it. Whatever would accelerate the fulfillment of it, go with it, choose it, And have a calling doesn’t mean that everything goes smooth without bumps or snags and resistance are not for Nehemiah and not for you.
Some of you have had a lot of hardships, a lot of bumps in your walk, in your life and your walk, obstacles, setbacks, delays, failures, betrayals, abandonment, conflict, confusion, mess ups on your own, and you gave up.
You stopped. Or you figured you weren’t called anymore, you lost it, or you just didn’t seek it anymore.
You didn’t know what was happening. You stopped moving forward.
And the lord would say to you now, and hardships and attacks and brokenness and frustrations and disappointments, they did not revoke my calling on your life.
