Sarah Jakes Roberts Daily Devotional – October 22, 2026
Some days you wake up with a quiet battle already raging inside your heart. You love God, but you’re tired. You believe His promises, yet your circumstances feel loud and intimidating. If that’s you today, you are not alone. God sees exactly where you are, and He has already stepped into this day before you took your first breath this morning. As you read this devotional, imagine the Holy Spirit sitting beside you, gently reminding you that your story is not over, your faith is not failing, and your Father has not forgotten you. Today, God is inviting you to trust Him again—right here, in the middle of your questions and your waiting.
Anchored by a Quiet Word
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14, NIV)
The Israelites stood trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, convinced their story would end in defeat. But God spoke through Moses and told them to be still while He worked. Being still doesn’t mean doing nothing; it means refusing to let fear direct your decisions. It’s the calm in your spirit that says, “God, I don’t see the way, but I know You are the way.” When you feel pressed on every side—by bills, deadlines, health concerns, or family tension—remember that God does His best work in impossible places. He’s not asking you to figure it all out today; He’s inviting you to rest in the truth that He is fighting for you.
When Your Faith Feels Fragile
There are seasons when faith feels like a roar, and others when it feels like a whisper. Both are precious to God. You might look at your life and think you should be stronger by now, further along by now, more “together” by now. But growth with God is often hidden—like roots expanding beneath the soil long before the leaves appear. Today, let your weakness drive you toward Him instead of away from Him. Take a deep breath and acknowledge what hurts, where you’re afraid, and what feels uncertain. Then, intentionally place those pieces in His hands. You can stand in faith and still admit, “Lord, I’m struggling.” That honesty is not failure; it’s the doorway to deeper intimacy with Him. Choose one small act of obedience today—sending the text, forgiving the offense, making the call, opening your Bible—and trust God to breathe on that step.
Lord, Strengthen My Faith
Father, I bring You my faith exactly as it is today—messy, imperfect, but sincere. Where doubt tries to cloud my mind, speak clarity. Where disappointment has settled into my heart, stir fresh hope. Teach me to lean into You when I don’t understand what You’re doing. Grow my spiritual roots deeper than my emotions and circumstances. Remind me that You are my source, my peace, and my stability. Help me to hear Your voice more clearly, to follow You more quickly, and to trust You more completely. May this day become a turning point where I move from surviving to truly believing that You are working all things together for my good and Your glory.
Grace Over My Home
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones before You. Cover our home with Your presence. Heal unspoken hurts, soften hardened hearts, and restore broken trust. Where there has been misunderstanding, bring gentle conversation and reconciliation. Protect our marriages, our children, our parents, and every relationship connected to us. Let our home be a place of safety, laughter, and healing. Replace chaos with peace and distance with connection. Give us courage to apologize, humility to forgive, and patience to grow together. May Your love reframe the way we speak to one another and the way we show up for each other every day.
Healing in Every Place I Hurt
Jesus, You are my Healer—of body, mind, and soul. I place my health in Your hands today. Touch every place of pain, disease, and weakness in my body. Strengthen my immune system, renew my energy, and correct whatever is out of order. Over my emotions, breathe calm where anxiety has been loud and lift the weight of hidden depression or fear. Heal memories that still sting and stories that still shame me. Teach me to steward my body with wisdom—through rest, movement, and nourishment—and help me to see myself the way You see me: loved, valuable, and worth caring for.
