Priscilla Shirer Daily Devotional – May 31, 2026
Some mornings you wake up with a quiet ache in your heart you can’t quite name. Maybe it’s the weight of unanswered prayers, the pressure of responsibilities, or the silent fear that you’re not enough for what today will ask of you. As you read this, take a breath and remember: you are not walking into this day alone. The God who saw you while you slept is the same God who is standing at the doorway of this new day, inviting you to lean on Him, listen for His voice, and trust His heart. Today, let’s step into a deeper place of faith, where we don’t have to know how everything will work out—we only have to know the One who holds it all.
Anchored in a Whispered Promise
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3, NIV). This promise is not reserved for people who have everything figured out, but for those who choose to fix their minds on God in the middle of uncertainty. Perfect peace doesn’t mean a life free from trouble; it means a steady heart grounded in the unshakable character of God. When anxiety rushes in, you can choose, again and again, to turn your thoughts toward Him—His faithfulness, His goodness, His proven track record in your life. As you do, His peace will do what your striving never could: guard your heart and quiet your mind.
Walking Faithfully in the Ordinary
Most of life is lived in the ordinary moments—commutes, errands, emails, dishes, conversations that seem small but matter deeply. Today, God wants to meet you right there. Spiritual growth is not just about the big breakthroughs; it is about choosing to trust Him one decision at a time. When worry shows up, pause and whisper, “Lord, I trust You with this.” When you feel rushed, ask, “Holy Spirit, lead my steps.” As you invite Him into your schedule, He will turn ordinary moments into sacred space. You can respond with kindness when you feel irritated, hold your tongue when you want to snap, and extend grace because you are held by grace. That is how quiet, steady transformation happens.
Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender
Father, today we come to You as we are—sometimes tired, sometimes unsure, but hungry for more of You. Grow our faith beyond what we can see. Teach us to trust Your timing when we long for immediate answers. Strengthen our desire to please You more than we please people. Help us to surrender our plans, our fears, and our expectations. Where our faith feels fragile, breathe fresh courage into our hearts. Remind us that You are working in the unseen, arranging details we cannot yet understand. May our roots go deep into Your love so that no storm can uproot us from Your presence.
Grace Over Every Household
Lord, we lift up our families and loved ones to You. Cover our homes with Your peace. Heal broken places in marriages, misunderstandings between parents and children, and silent walls that have grown over time. Bring forgiveness where there has been hurt, and tenderness where hearts have grown hard. Guard our children, grandchildren, spouses, and friends—physically, spiritually, and emotionally. May our homes be places where Your Word is honored, Your presence is welcome, and Your love is felt in every conversation. Restore laughter where there has been heaviness and unity where there has been division. Let Your peace rule in our households today.
Strength for Body, Mind, and Soul
Heavenly Father, You know every ache, diagnosis, fear, and hidden struggle in our bodies and emotions. We invite Your healing power into every place of weakness. Strengthen immune systems, calm anxious thoughts, and ease chronic pain. Bring wisdom to doctors and clarity in decisions about health. For those battling depression, fatigue, or fear, surround them with Your comfort and hope. Remind us that our bodies are temples of Your Holy Spirit—worthy of care, rest, and honor. Renew our strength like the eagle’s, and give us the grace to steward our health with wisdom and discipline, trusting You for what we cannot control.
Provision in Every Assignment
Lord, we bring our work, our finances, and our responsibilities to You. For those with jobs, give favor, excellence, focus, and integrity. For those seeking employment or new opportunities, open doors that no one can shut.
