Pastor Rick Warren Daily Devotional May 31, 2026

If this date finds you tired, anxious, or a little discouraged, you are not alone. God sees you right where you are—whether you’re sitting at a kitchen table before dawn, taking a break at work, or reading this in the stillness of night. Today, the Lord is inviting you into a quiet, steady confidence in Him. Not a confidence in your own strength or in the headlines or in what you can control, but a confidence rooted in His unchanging character. This devotional is a gentle reminder that God is not distant from your pain, confusion, or questions. He is close, and He is at work even when you can’t see it. As you read, let your heart breathe again. You are safe in the hands of a faithful God.

Anchored by a Promise

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3, NIV) This verse is more than a pretty phrase for a wall hanging; it is a promise from the heart of God to yours. Perfect peace doesn’t mean a life without storms. It means a calm in the middle of them, because your mind and heart keep turning back to the One who never changes. To be “steadfast” is to refuse to let your thoughts be pulled in a thousand fearful directions. Instead, you keep returning, again and again, to the truth: “Lord, You are still on the throne. You are still good. You are still with me.” As you do that, peace rises—not from circumstances, but from Christ Himself.

Living This Truth in an Uncertain World

In our culture, worry is almost seen as being responsible. If you’re not anxious, people assume you’re not paying attention. But God calls you to a different way. Trust doesn’t mean denial; it means inviting God into every detail. When the bills are due, when the diagnosis comes, when your teenager slams the door, when your job feels shaky, you can whisper, “Lord, I choose to trust You with this.” Very practically, that means pausing before reacting, asking God for wisdom before sending that text, and surrendering the outcome before you’ve even seen how things will turn out. Today, practice turning each concern into a short prayer. Let every worry become a doorway back to God. Over time, your first instinct will shift from panic to prayer.

Strengthening Faith and Deepening Trust

Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring my faith before You today. Some days it feels strong; other days it feels fragile and worn. But You said that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains, so I offer what I have. Grow my trust in who You are, not in what I can see. Teach me to lean into Your Word instead of my emotions. When doubt whispers that You’ve forgotten me, drown out that lie with the truth of Your faithfulness. Remind me of the times You have carried me, provided for me, and rescued me. Holy Spirit, align my heart with Your will. Help me to walk by faith, not by sight, and to rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for my good and for Your glory.

Covering Our Homes in Peace

Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You see every relationship, every hidden tension, every unspoken need. Bring Your peace into our home like a fresh wind. Where there has been misunderstanding, give clarity and gentle words. Where there is distance or hurt, begin a quiet healing. Teach us to listen more than we speak and to forgive more quickly than we accuse. Cover our marriages, our children, our parents, and our extended family with Your protection and grace. May our homes be places where Your presence is felt—where laughter can return, where kindness becomes normal, and where Your love shapes the way we talk, decide, and live together.

Praying for Health and Inner Wholeness

God, You know every ache, every diagnosis, every sleepless night. For those battling sickness, I ask for Your healing touch—guide doctors, strengthen bodies, and restore what has been damaged. For those carrying emotional wounds, anxiety, or depression, bring deep inner healing. Speak peace to racing thoughts and heavy hearts. Renew our energy when we feel drained. Help us make wise choices about rest, food, movement, and stress. Remind us that our bodies are temples of Your Spirit,
