Lysa TerKeurst – Daily Devotional October 26, 2026
When God Holds What You Can’t Fix
If you’re waking up this October 26, 2026, feeling a little worn down by what you can’t control, you’re not alone. Maybe something broke that you can’t seem to repair: a relationship, your health, your confidence, or even your hope. This devotion, inspired by the honest, hope-filled style of Lysa TerKeurst, is for those moments when you look at your life and whisper, “Lord, I didn’t think it would look like this.” Today, God invites you to bring Him every shattered piece, not with polished prayers or perfect answers, but with a heart that says, “Jesus, I still choose You right here.”
Anchored by a Quiet Promise
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14, NIV) God spoke these words to His people when the Red Sea was in front of them and an angry army was behind them. They had no backup plan, no easy escape route—just a seemingly impossible situation. Yet God didn’t ask them to figure it out; He asked them to stand still and trust Him. This is not a call to passivity, but to surrendered confidence. Today, that same God is reminding you that your battles are not yours to carry alone. When you feel boxed in by fear, deadlines, or disappointment, He is not panicked, and He has not lost track of you. Stillness in His presence becomes the doorway to strength you didn’t know you had.
Standing in Hard Places with Soft Hearts
Life with Jesus doesn’t mean we avoid pain; it means pain doesn’t get the final say. Faith is not pretending everything is fine; it is daring to believe God is still good when everything doesn’t feel good. In the middle of the kids arguing, the bills stacking, or the doctor’s report lingering in the back of your mind, you can pause and breathe this simple prayer: “Lord, fight for me here.” That pause is powerful. It reminds your soul that God is present in ordinary moments—at the kitchen sink, in traffic, on your lunch break. Today, choose one place where anxiety usually rushes in and invite God into that very space. Maybe it’s your email inbox, your marriage conversations, or your late-night thoughts. Ask Him to help you respond instead of react, to soften your heart where it’s become guarded, and to show you that even here, you are held.
Lord, Grow My Faith in the Middle of the Mess
Father, I bring You my faith that feels small and shaky some days. I confess that I like control, answers, and quick resolutions. But today I choose trust over trying to manage everything alone. Grow my faith where it has grown thin. Teach me to be still before You, not as a way of giving up, but as a way of giving everything to You. Remind me that You are fighting battles I can’t even see and aligning details I could never orchestrate. Break the lie that I am on my own, and anchor my heart in the truth that You are close, capable, and kind. Lead me into deeper spiritual growth—through Your Word, through honest prayer, and through obedience in the small, unseen choices of my day.
Cover My Home with Your Peace
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You see every tension, every misunderstanding, every unspoken fear. Step into the middle of our conversations and our silence. Heal what has been harsh, restore what has been distant, and protect what is tender. Surround our home with Your peace—peace that pushes out chaos, criticism, and comparison. Give us gentle words, listening hearts, and forgiving spirits. Strengthen marriages, comfort single parents, and wrap Your arms around those who feel alone. May our homes be places where Your presence is felt and Your love is practiced, even when we get it wrong and need to start over.
Touch My Body and Calm My Heart
Jesus, You know every ache, every diagnosis, every secret exhaustion in my body and mind. I ask You to bring healing where it is Your will, strength where there is weakness, and comfort where pain lingers. Calm racing thoughts and anxious hearts. Help me steward my health wisely—through rest, wise choices, and asking for help when I need it. For those I love who are sick or struggling emotionally, I place them in Your hands. Remind us that our bodies may be fragile, but our lives are held by a faithful God. Be near to
