Alistair Begg Daily Devotional – October 04, 2026
This new day has arrived with all its unknowns, and God already knows every step you will take. Maybe you woke up with a quiet ache, a swirling worry, or a simple longing for more of Christ. Wherever you are this morning, you are not overlooked. The Lord sees you, loves you, and has drawn you here so that His Word might steady your heart, lift your eyes, and anchor your soul in hope. As you pause to meet with Him now, let this time be a holy interruption in your routine—a reminder that you belong to a faithful Savior who will not let you go.
Grounded in God’s Unshakable Word
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) In a world that shifts beneath our feet, this verse stands like a rock in the river. People change. Circumstances change. Our own emotions rise and fall. But Christ remains constant—unchanging in His love, His power, His mercy, and His promises. When fear whispers that you are alone or that your situation is beyond repair, Hebrews 13:8 quietly answers, “No, you are held by the same Savior who calmed storms, healed the broken, forgave sinners, and conquered the grave.” Your confidence today is not in your grip on God, but in His unwavering grip on you.
Living Steadfast in an Unsteady World
Because Jesus never changes, you do not have to be ruled by whatever is happening around you. You may face uncertainty at work, tension at home, or news that makes you anxious about the future of our country. Still, the Lord invites you to respond with faith rather than fear. Take small, intentional steps: pause before reacting, breathe a short prayer before sending a text or email, open your Bible before scrolling your phone. Let Christ’s character shape your choices. Speak gently when others are harsh. Choose honesty when shortcuts tempt you. Trust God’s timing when everything inside you screams for control. Spiritual growth rarely happens in dramatic moments; it is often forged in ordinary decisions, made one obedient step at a time.
Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender
Father, today I bring You my faith, small and mixed with questions, yet real. Teach me to trust You more than I trust my feelings or my understanding. Strengthen my desire to know You through Your Word. Pull out the roots of doubt, cynicism, and self-reliance, and plant in me a deeper confidence in Your character. Help me to surrender my plans and expectations, and to rest in the truth that You are wise, good, and always working for my ultimate good and Your glory. Grow in me a steady, quiet faith that keeps my eyes on Jesus, whatever this day may hold.
Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You see every hidden hurt, every unspoken fear, every tension at the dinner table, and every distance that has grown over time. Bring Your healing into our relationships. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us. Protect our homes from division, anger, and bitterness. Fill our conversations with kindness and truth. Guard our marriages, comfort the single and the lonely, and draw prodigal hearts back to You. Let our homes in this nation shine as small beacons of Your peace in a restless culture. May Your presence be felt in every room, every conversation, and every decision.
Strength for Body, Mind, and Spirit
Heavenly Father, You know the aches we carry in our bodies and the burdens we carry in our minds. For those battling chronic pain, illness, or fatigue, pour out Your strength. For those waiting on test results or a diagnosis, calm the storm of anxiety within. For those grappling with depression, fear, or emotional exhaustion, be a gentle refuge. Stretch out Your healing hand according to Your will. Give wisdom to doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Help us to honor You by caring for our bodies, resting when we need rest, and asking for help when we are weary. Remind us that our weakness is not the end of the story; it is a doorway for Your power to be made perfect in us.
Trusting God with Work and Provision
Lord, You are the source of every good gift, including the ability to work and create. I place my job, my search for employment, and my financial needs in Your
