Trusting God in Every Season – Pastor Rick Warren Daily Devotional for October 23, 2026

If your heart feels a little tired today, you are not alone. Life has a way of weighing us down with worries about our families, our health, our finances, and the future. Yet right here, in the middle of your real life, God is inviting you to breathe, to rest, and to remember that you are deeply loved and never forgotten. Today’s devotional is a gentle reminder that your story is not over, your prayers are not wasted, and your Father in heaven is closer than the very breath you’re taking right now.

Anchored in a Faithful Promise

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV) This familiar verse is more than a memory verse from Sunday school—it is a daily roadmap for your soul. God doesn’t ask you to understand everything that’s happening; He asks you to trust Him in everything that’s happening. When you release your need to control the outcome and choose to submit your plans, emotions, and fears to Him, He promises to direct your steps. Straight paths don’t mean easy paths, but they are God-guided paths, and that’s where peace lives.

Living Hope in Ordinary Moments

Faith grows in the small, hidden decisions you make all day long. Hope isn’t only for the big breakthroughs; it’s for the quiet moments when you choose to pray instead of panic, to forgive instead of replay the hurt, to speak blessing instead of complaint. As you drive to work, fold laundry, pay bills, or sit in a waiting room, God is present. You can whisper, “Lord, I trust You with this,” and invite Him into the very places that feel messy or uncertain. Spiritual growth happens when you bring your real life—your schedule, your worries, your habits—under the leadership of Jesus, one surrendered choice at a time.

Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender

Lord, today I bring You my doubts, my questions, and my weary heart. Grow my faith where I feel afraid. Help me to trust Your timing when answers seem delayed. Teach me to love Your presence more than I crave quick solutions. I surrender my plans and expectations and ask You to shape my character, deepen my faith, and make me more like Jesus in every season of my life.

Grace Over Our Homes and Relationships

Father, I lift up my family and every relationship connected to my life. Let our homes be places of peace, not pressure; of encouragement, not criticism. Heal old wounds and soften hard hearts. Restore communication between husbands and wives, parents and children, siblings and friends. Guard our homes from division, anger, and bitterness. Fill our rooms with Your love, laughter, and understanding. Give us grace to apologize quickly, forgive freely, and speak words that build, not break. May every home represented here be a small sanctuary where Your presence is felt and honored.

Strength for Body, Mind, and Soul

Lord Jesus, You are the Great Physician. I bring my body, my mind, and my emotions before You. Where there is sickness, stretch out Your healing hand. Where there is fatigue, breathe new strength. Where there is anxiety, release Your calm. Protect me and my loved ones from disease, accidents, and hidden health issues. Help me make wise choices about rest, food, exercise, and stress. Heal the parts of my heart that are weighed down by grief, disappointment, or trauma. Let Your peace rule over sleepless nights, busy days, and every fear that tries to steal my joy.

God’s Hand in Work and Provision

Father, You see my work, my responsibilities, and my financial needs. Bless the labor of my hands and give me favor with employers, coworkers, and clients. Where doors need to open, please open them; where doors need to close, give me courage to let them close. Provide steady income, wise stewardship, and freedom from fear about tomorrow. Teach me to honor You in how I earn, spend, save, and give. When work feels frustrating or overwhelming, remind me that I ultimately serve You, not people. Let my workplace become a mission field where Your character shines through me.
