Craig Groeschel Daily Devotional – October 17, 2026
Right where you are, in the middle of what you’re carrying, God sees you. Maybe you woke up today with a weight on your chest, questions in your mind, or a quiet ache you can’t quite name. Or maybe this morning feels hopeful and you sense God stirring something new. Wherever you find yourself, this day is not an accident. God has already stepped into your October 17, 2026, and He’s inviting you to trust Him one more time, one more step, one more breath.
Standing on a Steady Word
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV)
These verses call us away from the exhausting pressure of trying to figure everything out. To “trust in the Lord with all your heart” means we stop building our security on what we can see and start anchoring our hope in who God is. When we submit our ways to Him—our plans, fears, and timelines—He doesn’t promise an easy road, but He does promise a directed one. God doesn’t always explain, but He always leads. Today, you can lean less on your understanding and more on His unfailing wisdom.
Faith in the Middle, Not Just at the Finish
Most of us love stories with clear endings—prayers answered, doors opened, miracles visible. But God often does His deepest work in the middle, when nothing seems finished and everything feels uncertain. That’s where faith grows strong and real. Maybe you’re in the middle of a struggle with your job, your marriage, your health, or your finances. God is not waiting at the end; He’s right here in the hallway with you.
Instead of asking, “When will this be over?” ask, “Lord, what are You forming in me right now?” Today, choose one area where you feel stuck and deliberately surrender it to God. Speak it out loud: “Jesus, I give You this situation.” Then, take one practical step of obedience—send the text, make the call, forgive the hurt, start the budget, schedule the doctor visit. Faith isn’t just a feeling; it’s a daily decision to move toward God even when you can’t see the full picture.
Growing Deeper Roots of Trust
Father, we come to You today hungry for more of You. Grow our faith beyond convenience and comfort. When we’re tempted to rely on what we see, remind us that we walk by faith, not by sight. Teach us to listen for Your whisper in Scripture, in still moments, and even in our struggles. Help us to desire Your presence more than the answers we’re asking for. Form in us a faith that holds onto You in disappointment, that praises You in waiting, and that obeys You when it costs us something. Root our identity in who You say we are, not in what the world says we should be. Today, deepen our trust and shape our hearts to look more like Jesus.
Covering Our Homes with Peace
Lord, we lift our families to You—our spouses, children, parents, siblings, and all those we call “home.” Step into every living room, kitchen, and bedroom represented here. Where there has been tension, bring tenderness. Where there have been harsh words, plant seeds of apology and forgiveness. Unite divided hearts and soften stubborn ones. For those praying for a prodigal child or a distant spouse, breathe hope again. Wrap Your arms around single parents, blended families, and those who feel alone in their own homes. Let our houses be places where Your presence is felt, where prayer is normal, and where love speaks louder than anger. Guard our families from the enemy’s lies, and write Your peace over every doorway.
Strength for Bodies and Souls
Heavenly Father, we place our health before You—our bodies, minds, and emotions. For those fighting sickness, pain, or chronic illness, stretch out Your healing hand. Give wisdom to doctors, clarity in test results, and breakthroughs where there has only been waiting. For those exhausted in their minds, weighed down by anxiety, fear, or depression, let Your light break through the heaviness. Restore sleep, renew energy, and calm racing thoughts. Help us to honor You with our bodies—through wise choices, rest, and discipline—without slipping into shame or perfectionism. Remind
