Michael Todd Daily Devotional – October 17, 2026: Trusting God in the Middle
If you’re reading this today, it’s not an accident. God knows exactly where you are, what’s weighing on your chest, and the questions you’re too tired to say out loud. Maybe you’re in the middle of something that doesn’t make sense—between diagnosis and healing, between job loss and breakthrough, between heartbreak and restoration. The “middle” can feel messy and uncertain, but it’s often where God does His most powerful work. Today, let this devotional be a reminder that you are not stuck, you are held; not forgotten, but fiercely loved. The same God who started a good work in you is still writing your story, even when you can’t see the next page.
Anchored by a Promise
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6, NKJV) This verse is a steady anchor when everything else feels shaky. Paul isn’t guessing here—he says, “being confident.” He’s sure that God finishes what He starts. Your spiritual growth, your healing, your restoration, your purpose—none of it depends solely on your performance. It rests on God’s faithfulness. The middle of your story may feel unfinished and confusing, but in heaven’s eyes, the outcome is already secure. God is not experimenting with your life. He is completing a good work in you, step by step, day by day, prayer by prayer.
Growing When You Feel Stuck
Spiritual growth doesn’t always look dramatic. Most days, it looks like choosing to trust God when your emotions scream otherwise. It’s opening your Bible when you’d rather scroll, whispering “Jesus, help me” instead of spiraling in your thoughts, and deciding to forgive when you’d rather hold a grudge. Today, take one small step of obedience: maybe it’s apologizing, turning off a toxic show, making a gratitude list, or carving out ten quiet minutes to sit with the Lord. Don’t despise small beginnings; heaven celebrates every move you make toward God. As you practice daily trust, you’ll look back and realize God was stretching your faith, deepening your roots, and preparing you for what you prayed for.
Faith That Stays Firm
Father, in Jesus’ name, I bring my faith to You, even the shaky parts. Strengthen what feels weak. Help me trust You not just when I see progress, but especially when I don’t. Teach me to lean on Your Word more than on my feelings. Grow my desire to know You, not just what You can do for me. Give me a soft heart that responds quickly to Your leading, and a steady heart that won’t give up when answers seem delayed. Let my faith be rooted in who You are—good, faithful, and unchanging. May my life today reflect my trust in You: in my words, my choices, and my attitude. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Grace Over My Home
Lord, I lift my family to You. Cover my home with Your peace that passes all understanding. Heal broken places in our relationships—unspoken hurts, old arguments, silent distance. Replace tension with tenderness, criticism with compassion, and fear with faith. Guard our conversations so they build and not destroy. Draw every member of my family closer to You. Protect our marriages, our children, our parents, and those who feel alone. Let our home be a place where Your presence is felt, where forgiveness flows freely, and where love is more than words—it’s how we live. Make our house a light on our street, a refuge of Your grace.
Strength for My Body and Soul
Jesus, You are the healer of my body, mind, and emotions. I bring every ache, diagnosis, and hidden struggle before You. Touch my body with Your healing power and give wisdom to every doctor and caregiver. Strengthen my immune system, calm my nervous system, and renew my energy. For the stress, anxiety, and heaviness I’ve been carrying, I lay it at Your feet. Heal the places in my heart that no one sees—disappointments, grief, shame, and worry. Fill me with Your joy, which is my strength. Help me rest well, eat wisely, move my body, and steward my health as a gift from You. Let Your wholeness flow through me.
