Daily Devotional with Lysa TerKeurst – September 29, 2026

If you woke up today feeling a little worn out on the inside, you are not alone. Maybe your heart is carrying more than you know how to name, or your mind is juggling worries about your family, your health, your job, and the future. As you read these words, imagine the Lord gently placing His hand over your racing heart and whispering, “I see you. I am not going anywhere.” Today’s devotional is an invitation to step out of the swirl of anxiety and step into the steady, faithful presence of God who holds every detail of your life. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to come to Him, right here, right now, exactly as you are.

Anchored by a Promise

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3, NIV)

Isaiah doesn’t promise that God will remove every hardship, but he does tell us what God will guard: our peace. Perfect peace is not the absence of problems; it’s the presence of God in the middle of them. A “steadfast” mind is simply a mind that keeps turning back to God instead of spiraling into fear. When your thoughts feel scattered, you can pause and say, “Lord, I choose to trust You right here.” This verse is an anchor for the days when your emotions say, “Everything is falling apart,” and God’s Word quietly answers, “No, you are held.”

Walking Through Hard Days with a Steady Heart

Hard days can make us believe we’re failing spiritually. We assume strong Christians don’t feel overwhelmed, disappointed, or confused. But the truth is, spiritual maturity isn’t measured by how little you feel; it’s measured by how quickly you turn to God with what you feel. Today, ask yourself: “Where am I running first—my phone, my fears, or my Father?”

Practically, you can invite God into your day by taking small, intentional pauses. Whisper a prayer before you open your email. Ask for wisdom before you speak to your child or spouse. Breathe deeply and repeat, “Jesus, I trust You,” when anxiety rises. You don’t have to fix everything to be faithful. You just have to keep bringing everything to the One who can redeem, restore, and re-route your story for His glory and your good.

Drawing Near in Faith and Growth

Father, today I bring You my faith, even where it feels thin and fragile. Strengthen what is weak in me. Grow in me a deeper trust that is not based on what I see, but on who You are. Teach me to love Your Word, to lean into Your presence, and to believe Your promises more than my feelings. Shape my character, refine my motives, and help me desire Your will above my own. When doubts shout loudly, let Your truth speak louder in my heart. I surrender my plans, my agenda, and my expectations to You. Make me more like Jesus—from my thoughts, to my attitudes, to the way I treat the people around me. Let my faith today be real, honest, and anchored in Your unchanging goodness.

Covering Our Homes with Peace

Lord, I place my family and loved ones into Your faithful hands. You see every hidden tension, every unspoken hurt, every unfulfilled longing within our home. Where there is distance, bring connection. Where there is conflict, sow Your peace. Give us patience with one another, soft hearts, and gentle words. Protect our marriages, our children, our friendships, and every relationship that matters to us. Help us choose forgiveness over bitterness and understanding over assumptions. Let our home be a place where Your presence is welcomed, where prayer is natural, and where love is felt. Wrap Your arms around those we love who are far from You, and in Your kindness, draw them back to Your heart.

Strength for Body, Mind, and Spirit

God, You know every ache, diagnosis, and silent health concern I carry. You see the fatigue, the stress, and the weight of worry on my body and emotions. I ask for Your healing touch over my health—from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. Strengthen my immune system, calm my nervous system, and steady my mind. Help me make wise choices in how I rest, eat, move, and care for this body You’ve given
